330ml bottle from The Kernel Brewery. Very dark brown colour, good beige foamy head. Hoppy chocolate aroma & flavour. Hoppy aftertaste. A porter IPA hybrid. Very nice.

(Bottle) Black colour with dense, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate, cacao, a touch of pine needles, coffee and black rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, coffee, cacao, liquorice, tobacco and a fresh piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with just a touch of sweetness. Very well balanced. Excellent porter.

Lovely coffee aroma, mellow. Black, large tight tan head. Huge roasty body, lots of spicy zesty hops. Full and smooth and succulent. Burps pure hops - lovely! Very classy brew. No sign of 7.5%. Can’t actually think how I would improve this, so probably an under-rate.

330ml Bottle (Thanks Scopey) - Very dark brown with a foamy tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate, grain, ashtray and soapy hops in the aroma. Rich and roasted taste with notes of chocolate, roasted malt, soapy hops and a hint of coffee. Really easy to drink. Its drinkability belies its strength.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration. A deep almost murky old brown beer with a small sidesticking khaki head. Aroma is hoppy and roasted, I get chocolate paper and cold coffee, earthy tones and caramel. Quite there on the aroma! It’s fantastic in flavor! My god this is tasty! Tons of cold coffee blended with fruity citrusy hops and chocolate! My oh my! This was a true surprise! Really impressed! Leaving a mild dry tounge. Lingering chocolate and coffee. 12.05.2012

Bottle from the Kernel. It pours very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is fresh pine, caramel, roasted malt, earth, bitter chocolate and coffee grinds. The taste is roasted malt, pine, salted liquorice, rich dark chocolate, fudge, earth, resin, tangy dark fruit and grapefruit, with a bitter, roasty finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Luxurious mouth-feel. Delicious and very well balanced. One of the best Kernel offerings I have had and that’s saying something!
