3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 berkshirejohn (3645) - Bracknell, Berkshire, - APR 5, 201233cl bottle from Westholme Stores. Pours a pleasant looking deep ruby brown colour with a thin beige head; lots of mango fruit aroma; soft and fruity to start with some underlying pine resin and well-burnt toast; the finish is long and hoppy (of course) without being too aggresive, making this an approachable, easy-drinking beer.

Oh boy. This is good. Saved bottle from while back cause it was just too tasty. Not had another BIPA like it. No coins. No coins. Just full thick standard BIPA flavours without the tuppence. All good smooth tasty.

Courtesy of jan (fonefan) Dark brown color, with creamy beige creamy head. Very nice hop aroma, fruity, overwhelming any kind of roasted malt; there is also some yeast. Smooth mouthfeel; chocolate flavor with roasted malt; strong bitterness, with just a dash of yeast and fruits, and infinitesimal liquorice. Excellent example for the style.

Not the biggest fan of black IPAs but this is nice. Pours dark brown, off white head. Nose is lots of tropical fruit and citrous. Lots of pineapple juice, then passion fruit, mango, papaya, guava. Citrous and lime and bit of grapefruit bitter. Taste is tropical fruit sweet. If I were blindfolded I wouldn’t necessarily know this was a black rather than West Coast IPA. Doesn’t have that black sugary cloyingness. Fair amount of grapefruit, pine and dash of eucalyptus on finish.
