Bottle at Gents Bierfestival. Malty, hoppy, bitter, roasted coffee, I absolutely love the style and I love Kernel. A BIPA to dream about. Great.

The beer has got a deep blalck colour with a small head and smooth body. Aroma of hops, amlt and pine. Taste of hops, barley, bread, malt, chocolate, pine and mild herbs. Flowery hoppy finish. Enjoyed it.

Kernel’s BIPA, expectations are high. Stable and lacing, pale greyish beige head, very dark ruby bronze colour, as good as black but translucid on the edges. Wonderful, lush aroma of American C-hops and other goodies: fresh grapefruit, pine resin, lemon blossom, caramel, tad chocolate, field flowers. Dried fruits, very nutty from the start, soft carbo, smooth caramelly and lightly chocolatey maltiness leading to a beautifully hopped finish, peppery and bittering, resiny, very long and lushly citrussy. Exemplary BIPA, I’d recommend this to anyone trying to get acquainted with this fascinating new style.

Close to black dark brown color with medium beige head. Aroma has pine, citrus and some tropical fruits, with a strong notes of coffee, chocolate and roasted malts, very balanced. Taste follows the aroma, citrus and tropical fruits, pine and resin, with sweet maltiness, chocolate and coffee beans. Bitter aftertaste. My kind of Black IPA, 60% IPA and 40% Black.

Bottle, manor house wanstead. born approx 3 months ago. Hoppy, bitter but with a smooth finish. I’m a big fan. The hoppiness of the ipa but with a story end.

Bottle at home.Very dark brown, big beige creamy head. Nicely citrus and tropical fruity hop profile, grassy too, not too bitter; malty base is sweet and sufficient body-wise, but not too roasted as expected from a black IPA. Fruity finish that lingers nicely. Good body, medium carbonation.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with huge, thick, frothy to creamy, fully lasting, moderately lacing, off-white to beige head. Tropical fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of passion fruit, mango, grapefruit, chocolately dark malty background. Taste is bitter hoppy, tropical fruity, hints of passion fruit, grapefruit, a touch of mango, minimally sweet, chocolately background, minimally chalky flashings in between; rather weak on the malty side.
