maneliquor (3112) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 19, 2013
Bottle from the brewery. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Nose is big on the citric hops with some moderate toast and light cocoa. Kind of earthy. Nice. Citric hops in great unison with balanced roast. Works well. Nice stuff

Not sure if I’m rating the right beer, mine says IPA Black but is 6.5%. Bottle from Kris Wines. Black with tan head, once the head settles it looks like dirty dishwater. Aroma is big and citrusy. Flavor opens with hops but finishes way too roast. Not my thing.

Lowenbrau (1946) - Asturias, Oviedo, SPAIN - OCT 14, 2013
330ml bottle @Cimmeria, Oviedo. Roasty, herbal aromas. Pours black with average tan head, some lacing. Medium body, average to low carbonation, som oily texture. Taste is mild bitter, roasty, some herbal flavours. Then bitter develops with temperature, ending dry and harsh. Quite enjoyable.

Garrold (1336) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2013
Bottle from the brewery. Dark copper colour. Beige, thin, but creamy head. Aroma is roast malt, chocolate cake, privet leaves. (So, just a bit going off then...). Taste has a hint of salt. Then a big, dry, bitter finish, that slightly overwhelms. Complex.

Martinus (2818) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 8, 2013

(From 33cL bottle @ decadent symmetry tasting. Thanks for sharing, KyotoLefty!)

330ml bottle from Sourced, St. Pancras. 6.5% version. Pours reddish brown with a good off-white head. Aromas of creamy coffee and pine hops. Burnt orange. Some roasted bitterness on the taste, good hop bite. Creamy texture, good carbonation and lacing. Long bitter finish. Very nice.

Idiosynkrasie (3815) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - SEP 24, 2013
330ml bottle [6.5% abv, hops: Simcoe, Centennial, Chinook, Zeus]. Red glowing dark brown colour with average to huge, creamy, fairly lasting, well lacing, beige head. Dark malty aroma with hints of coffee, grassy hoppy overtones. Taste is dry to bitter hoppy, minimally chalky, additional dryness by a roasty dark malty note, subtle sweetness, hints of coffee, dark chocolate with orange, mocha. Combines, contrary to US West Coast specimen of the style that typically have a bitter, roasty, peppery, green onion note resulting from the dark malt and hop mixture, more fruity hop notes with a refined dark malty basis, delivering more sweet chocolately notes.
