Bottle at Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Black (or very dark reddish brown) with an off-white to beige head. Hoppy! Aroma of pine, citrus, herb and malt with some roasty notes and caramel. Sweet and hoppy with a nice citrussy bitterness in the finish. The hoppy IPA aromas is quite dominating, the black parts are more modest. Refreshing and delicious! (2013-01-26)

Bottle a few months past bb date. Black with nice sized beige head. Oh yeah lots of nice hops with lemon, grapefruit and herbs. Light roasted malts with some chocolate and Americano coffee. Very fresh and light bitter touch. Medium bodied with slight creamy feel. Lovely.

Flaska.

Aroma from this oxymoron, India Pale Ale Black, is fresh and citrusy. I catch a really nice aroma here from the hops. The taste is a little bit roasty from the malts but is strongly supressed by piney, tropical, citrus zest hops. It’s really good and well balanced and it leaves a rather long bitter aftertaste that is very pleasant. A good black IPA for sure.

Bottle from Rehills of Jesmond. Deep brown, almost black with a good foamy tan head. Starts sweet and fruity with pine notes. So e roasty flavour in the background - a little too in the background for me. The finish is bitter chocolate with a little lingering ash. A good BIPA, but Iwas was hoping for even more from this brewery.
