Bottle, from Hippo Beers in Glasgow. Huge hoppy hit up front, lovely citrusy bitterness to follow. Nice!

330ml bottle from Rehill’s, Newcastle. Pours cloudy deep amber with a good foamy head and a little ttle sediment. Great aroma of fruit and grass, really fresh. Flavours of peach and tropical fruits, a little malt and a really robust bitterness. The hops come through very clearly here. A fantastic beer, really delicious.

Bottle from a trade with Ken, thanks. Pours light hazed deep golden with a big stable off-white head. Aroma is spot on my malty and fruity target, caramel and lots of fresh fruity hops. Taste of fresh oranges, smooth and rounded malty, moderate sweet, with that lovely fresh hoppy bite at the end, lingering fruity and sharp mint at the final, I did miss those Kernels, maybe there is a god after all.

330ml bottle, bottled 27/11/12. Pours a bright golden orange with a small off-white head. Some sediment floating in the glsss. Aroma is citrus, oranges, slightly floral with a sweet tropical note (mango?). Taste has light malt, dank grapefruity and piney hops, marmelade. Slightly bitter and dry finish. Medium bodied and smooth with a sparkly carbonation.

keg Grove Hudds. Creamy citrus nose with cat piss notes. So soft on the palate with peach flavours and a grassy finish, with just a touch of caramel late on. Another stunning IPA from The Kernel

Bottle from Kernel Brewery. There are some doubters when it comes to The Kernel. But this beer epitomizes why they rate so highly. This is a beer which is as fresh and as good as any American IPA I’ve had. Colour is clear orange/rusty amber, white head. Nose is stunningly citrousy. Lemon, lime, grapefruit, then caramel, pine, cool minerally. Taste is refreshing pithy lemon, grapefruit and bit of orange. Zesty and refreshingly citrous fruit, without killing me with bitterness. It’s all fruit bitterness. Finish is fruit citrous bitter, tingly pine and hop. Top quality IPA and a top beer from The Kernel.
