Bottle at home - 14/09/12. Cloudy dark orange with a thin ivory head that soon clears. Sweet grapefruit, blood orange, caramel, hops, pine, tangerine on the nose. Tastes largely follow the nose, nice bitter tones, grapefruit becomes sharper. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, great mouthfeel leading to a bitter finish.

UPDATED: JUL 28, 2013 Bottled 27/08/12. An orange gold coloured beer with a white head. An excellent beer. Tropical fruity hops in the nose. Very exotic. Fresh hoppy flavours in the mouth. More tropical citrussy hoppiness. A sunny beer. Lovely. Score 4.0

Come on! Kernel, what’s not to like. Bitter, malts coming through but not like a US caramel attack. There’s citrus in balance but the bitterness lasts really nicely. Talking of bitter... anyone seen Danny Brown lately?

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines drank at home; I’ve tasted a few of The Kernel’s IPA’s and this is my favourite hop, it has a Piney resiny freshness like a toilet just after a dousing with toilet duck. Drank on numerous occasions and will revisit as frequently as possible. Food accompaniment: Aromatic Crispy Duck with Pancakes

Color: hazy blond amber beer with small ugly white head. Smell: great equilibrium between citrus and hops. Taste: hops, citrus, lemon. Aftertaste: citrus and bitter.

(Bottle, purchased at the brewery outlet) Golden amber colour, slightly hazy, with huge frothy off-white head, leaving traces of lacing. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of citrus, tropical fruit (lychee, passion fruit, mango), a touch of honey and floral, citric hops. Fruity taste with citrus, apricots, passion fruit, pineapple, mango, a touch of crystal malt, orange peel, honey and a fresh, citric bitterness in the finish. Slightly more than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Very nice and tasty IPA with a fresh citric hop character, yet in excellent balance. Lovely!

Golden orange, slightly cloudy. Lighter aroma of citrusy hops, much duller than forthcoming flavor. Citrus zest filled flavor, juicy citrusy hops. Another winner from the Kernel

found this one to be slightly disappointing. looks bad, very hazy and a strange copper/yellow colour. flavour is good, but the body was a bit thin.

Bottle. Hazy gold brown with a thin foam. Aromas are biscuit and caramel with pineapple and floral pine. Woody with hints of seawater and mango. Flavours are sweet tropical fruit with some mango and lemon tartness. Bitter grapefruit with green pine. Yeasty with base caramel malts. Salty and peppery with good bitterness to finish. Good.
