3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
21st July 2013
Hazy gold beer, good white head. Palate is semi dry and crisp. Mild minerals. Light thin malt. Bitter hops - pithy orange and grapefruit backed by the same fruits peel. Nice touch of floral sweetness brings balance. The back end is quite limey, lime peel that goes through the airy dry finish and well in to the linger. Goods stuff.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2013 Ah yes. Kernel IPAs are truly wonderful.Executed lovelily, dark amber pour, bitterly lipsmacking. I grew up on the Kings Heath side, the red triangle vibe.

330ml bottle, bottled on 17/6 so 32 days old exactly. Lovely aroma, fruit salad in the nose, grapefruit, guava, kiwi, some caramel & biscuit malt flavours balancing with the hop and leaving a succulent, fruity, dry, bitter hoppy finish. Excellent hoppy IPA again from Kernel. Very tasty.

Bottle from the brewery. Hazy gold, with a slight, off-white head and plentiful carbonation. Sharp, tropical fruit, with some solid, biscuity malt bite and a tongue tingling, dryish finish with plenty of hops. Enjoyable.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2013 Very nice IPA from Kernel, good mix of hops, works well together, like a group.
Fresh new kicks and pants
You got it like that now you know you wanna dance
So move out of your seat
And get a fly girl and catch this beat
While it’s rollin’ hold on pump a little bit
And let me know it’s going on like that like that
Cold on a mission so pull on back
Love Wu Tang, CREAM baby...

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours mostly clear, yellow-gold with a lasting, frothy, pure white head. The aroma is just filled with juicy citrus character, lots of tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, hay, pine needles. Medium sweet flavor with lightly dry pale malt sugars, plenty of citrus, some pithy grapefruit, tangerine, orange rind, melon, light alcohol, faint bitter grass. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming to finish with lots of juicy, somewhat sticky and resinous hops, pineapple, lemon zest, bitter grapefruit and orange rind, a bit of grass and pine. There’s a bitterness in the aftertaste that seems a bit more pronounced than in the typical Kernel IPA. Still, only a small qualm with what is otherwise a lovely beer.
