3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Edinburgh. Pours golden orange with a short, white head. Nose is mango, passionfruit lime and grapefruit. Fairly malty backbone too, bit of sweet caramel. Taste is quite malty, lots of caramel and honey. Citra flavours were a little one dimensional, light tropical fruits didn't bring much complexity to the beer. Sold whack of bitterness. Good IPA, overrated in my opinion.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
33 cl bottle (9,7%) @ home. Bottled 02.04.2013, BBE 02.08.2013
Aroma is nice and hoppy with exotic fruits, some gooseberry bush, biscuits and caramel. Flavour has gluey notes, exotic fruits, caramel and some gooseberry bush. Also a feeling of alcohol. Aroma was nice but the flavour is a bit disappointing.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle thanks to BenH! Label says bottled on April 2, 2013. Pours a cloudy yellow amber with a medium white head that dissipates slowly and laces well. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, pine resin. Flavor is subdued citrus, resinous, lightly sweet, a bit of bready malt, light bitter increasing to medium on the finish. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Drinks pretty hot, which is the only thing holding it back from a 5 on palate. Holding up quite well given the age (according to the label), and is quite a nice full bodied example of the style. Fairly well balanced with hop, malt and yeast notes present. I like The Kernel. I am definitely planning to visit on my next (and first) trip to London.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
330ml bottle. Misted yellow with a subsiding white foam. Nose an explosion of tropical-scented dishcloth, mango and guava Rubicon, pineapple jelly, blackcurrant and Jelly Tots. Warm, floral, deeply tropical flavour mingling soapy grapefruit, guava, lavender and trifle bottoms. Husky balancing malt in there; a hint of heat, dominant silky Rubicon-tropical hop. The mellowness is tripelesque. Alcohol unbelievably well-concealed by the quiet pungency of hop. As close to a sessions DIPA as can possibly exist; a dinky little 330ml bottle simply isn’t enough. Outrageous.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
My Bottom Line:
This gorgeous Double IPA’s amazing aromatics develop citrusy and peppery hop resins in the cushy heft of an intelligently-sculpted mouthfeel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the cloudy .
-The finish is not immensely bitter, which I appreciate. This one’s about aroma and flavour. And drinkability is increased because of that.
-Alcohol warmth accompanies the hop bitterness.
-The mouthfeel is that of a sipper, even though the fresh hop development make you want to take big gulps.
-This is definitely on par with the New World’s best Double IPA examples.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from secret Santas Ben and Craig. Tried this at our first IPA Fest. 13 DIPAs tasted blind. This one ranked second overall with 4 of the top 10 for this style being in the mix. Pours a deep orange with light head. Aroma is the best I’ve ever tasted from a beer. Hands down. Like opening up a basket of nectarines, peaches and mangos ripe beyond belief. Taste is more tropical than stone fruit but this works well. The malt is a little forward near the finish but I think this might be based on the bottle being three months old. Still, for being that "old" it is incredible. I don’t know if anything that I loved in the aroma would change if it were more fresh but this beer is just incredible. I was blown away and can say it was in no way hype based on the blind tasting.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This is a cloudy yellow-orange beer with tropical fruit and citrus flavours, a very warming body and a creamy vanilla finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught @ CBC2013. Pours hazy pale golden with a small frothy white head that quickly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is fruity with crackers, grapefruit juice, alcohol, papaya, pineapple, cape gooseberries, freshly cut grass, lemon zest, orange zest, lemongrass, passionfruit, resin and hints of tropical fruit hard candy. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and fruity with crackers, white bread, grapefruit juice, lemongrass, mango, pineapple, papaya, passionfruit, lemon zest, orange zest, lemongrass, alcohol, cape gooseberries, pine cones, resinous wood and tropical fruit hard candy. Mouthfeel is slightly dry, round, tiny boozy and medium bodied. Finish is bitter with crackers, white bread, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, orange zest, tropical fruit hard candy, unripe tropical fruits, freshly cut grass, pine needles and hints of resin. Similar to the Pale Ale but more of everything. Very tasty!

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2013 Tap at Kernel. Pours hazy golden with a medium white head which lasts leaving sticky lacing. Nose shows pungent citrus zest, heavy pineapple and lemon rind. Taste is rather sweet with tangy citric fruits and light but lengthy bitterness. Heavy orange and lemon. Very tangy feel to it which works nicely. Drinks damn well. Balance is amazing. Great stuff
