Bottled. Pours deep golden with an average, lacing off-white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit notes and caramel. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and bitter. Medium bodied, oily text. An excellent IPA.

Bottle from Beermerchants. Pours hazy golden with a big creamy, stable white head. Aroma of tropical fruit mx,grapefruit, mango and passion fruit. Taste is light crisp, fresh fruity hops, juicy oranges, and some good herbal and minty dry, bitter finish. Lovely beer, lingering finish.

330ml bottle from Hippo Beers. Cloudy amber brown, reasonable head. Unusual spicy leafy lemon hop aroma. Biscuit pine resin hop flavour. Bitter lemon hop aftertaste. Good IPA but Kernel do better.

Bottle, 2 months old, 7.3%, into tulip. Clear dark orange, bubbly white head, lacing doesn’t stick around. Aroma - citrus, some pineapple, alcohol comes through bringing a sharpness to it. Body is medium, smooth, low carbonation. Taste - toned down malts, slight sour caramel, cat urine, white wine minerals. Nicely balanced, mild beer. Not as hoppy as I was expecting and hoping. Decent.

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy dirty yellow pour. Small scummy off white head. Mild tropical scents, light passion fruit. Thinniish body, clean mouthfeel. Hides alcohol well, balanced hops and bitterness. Good stuff.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy golden yellow, thin white head. Tropical fruit aromas, light caramel malt. More tropical fruit on the taste, nice bitterness. Something fails to sing though.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours mostly clear, bright gold with a creamy, white head. The nose is beautiful and just bursting with Southern Hemisphere character: lots of piss, mango, grapefruit, orange. Medium sweet flavor with rich citrus and tropical fruits, faint pale bread, a bit of juicy pine, faint minerals. Medium to full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Lightly warming, good and resinous to finish with further juicy and somewhat jammy citrus, orange, tangerine, more mango and papaya, mild pee. Rich and delicious. Doesn’t quite follow through given the brilliance of the aroma but that’s a minor qualm. Overall, it’s damn fine IPA.

Hazy golf beer, tidy off white head. Palate is smooth and light with a little fine carbonation. Light malt cream. not that sweet. Hops are mellow Mosaic passion fruit and skunk with mild mango and tropical fruits from the Galaxy. Finishes smooth. One of the less bright shouty IPAs from Kernel but it gradually seduces with it’s hoppy tropical flavours.

Scopey (5506) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 23, 2014
Keg at BD Shepherd’s Bush. It pours cloudy gold with a thick white head. The nose is juicy orange, tangerine, passion fruit, apricot yoghurt and light herbal notes. The taste is crisp, pine, resin, earth, firm bitterness, creamy, light herbal notes, grapefruit, some alcohol, dough and pepper with a dry, rather bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Pretty punchy stuff. Not quite as balanced as a I had hoped, but tasty stuff anyways.

Bottle. Hazy orange with a white bubbly foam. Aromas are oranges with rind and herbal, light funky notes. Bready yeast with lime and grapefruit. Flavours are orange rind with green pine and bitter grapefruit. Very fresh and grassy with a herbal, leafy finish. Very good.
