Bottle at home, this is another solid IPA from kernel, but not as good as some of the others of recent months, Centinial was outstanding

Keg @ Jolly Butchers 2014/4/8 Resinous orange aroma. Amazing flavour from the Mosaic - I assume! Probably a little hop dominant as you would expect from a Kernel IPA. Great body and good carbonation. There is a lingering sweetness but you’ll have to drink it slowly to discover it. Which is probably a good idea.

330ml bottle from BeerRitz. Golden yellow amber colour, foamy white head leaving some lacing and lovely fresh passionfruit aroma. Tropical fruits taste, passionfruit & mango, with a tangy grapefruit citrus bitterness against a smooth caramel malt base with slight biscuity notes. Smooth mouth feel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry earthy bitter finish. Very drinkable IPA.

33cl bottle, served in Shaker. Pours hazy orange with medium white head. Aroma is mostly orange peel blended with sweet malts and traces of tropical fruit. Taste is pretty much mango-like, with some toasty notes and resin. Soft bitterness. Juicy at first, but after a few minutes there’s a dry hit. Medium body, good carbonation. Nice.

Pours orange gold with small white head and yeast in the pour. Citrus fruity aroma with grapefruit, orange, pine, resin and tea leaves. Dry bitter to finish, crisp and refreshing. Another good Kernel IPA

Bottle at the Kernel. It pours golden with some suspended particles and a small white head. The nose is zesty citrus, juicy orange, passion fruit, mango and faint herbal notes in the background. The taste is zesty grapefruit, touch of spice, orange, mango, passion fruit, sherbet, hint of alcohol in background, pine and resin with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A classic Kernel IPA.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. Pours mostly clear gold with a modest, foamy white head. The nose is just bursting with aged cat pee - it’s beautiful. Medium sweet flavor but not cloying, some tropical fruits, lots more urine, moderate bitterness, some grapefruit. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Great balance. Lightly resinous to finish, ripe piss, some pale malts, mild sticky pine, orange. Nips of robust earthy bitterness. Damn, just delicious. This is The Kernel doin’ it right.

[keg at the Hanging Bat, Edinburgh] Slightly hazy golden yellow beer, with a small, thin head that reduces to a lacing. Aroma is dominated by orange and grapefruit, but there’s some sweeter, stickier fruit in there as well. These come over on the taste – passion fruit, mostly, with that back-up of the more acidic fruits. Lots of mango too – one of those beers that has you mentally running through the ingredients of Five Alive or Um Bongo as you drink. No! Papaya, that was it…(etc) [26032013]

Bottle from Oddbins, London Bridge, London. A hazy golden/orange coloured pour with a small white head on top. Nice fresh hoppy, grapefruit, orange aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, grapefruit, orange, citrus, tropical fruit, slight bitterness. Good stuff as ever from Kernel.
