30th June 2013
Very hazy gold - amber beer, little white head. Light palate, crispy and slightly dry. Creamy malt base, mild minerals. Stunning hops - lovely Nelson Sauvin like grape and gooseberry with a gang of tropical fruits backing them up - peach being most readily identifiable. Finishes light and crispy with medium bitterness. A belter!

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle from brewery drunk at home. You drink a Kernel beer and you realise what hops were made for. Seriously just amazing. You almost take them for granted then you have one of these and your palate just jumps about and you go, yep, that’s just beautiful. Aroma is so intense and so tropical fruit flavour laden it’s stunning. Simcoe comes through so beautiful a hop. The soft citrus of the Amarillo, the aroma of the Nelson. Simcoe bitterness on the finish. I mean so fresh super fresh. The hops my god the hops. Not stupid overpowering, just fresh and super aromatic and tasty. Get out of here. This beer goes yard, out of the ballpark. Beautiful. Kernel have produced some stunning IPAs, this is up in the top echelon. Drunk in the space of 3 short songs, it was that good. Utterly sublime.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at home in London - procured from the brewery a few days ago. Pours ever so slightly hazy gold with a strong, frothy off-white head. The aroma screams with juicy, ripening citrus, some mineral dryness, a bit of day-old cat urine. Medium sweet flavor with oodles of juicy citrus, touches of tropical fruits, more pee, enough bready malt base to hold it all together. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet and resinous to finish, dripping orange and papaya, softened pine needles, some further pee, hints of lime, tangerine. Delicious. Kernel on form.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Half poured from tap at The Hanging Bat. Patchy surface to a cloudy, orange-gold body. Fresh and rather mild aromas of orange and tropical fruits. The taste follows the nose with succulent juicy fruits on a backbone of modest malty sweetness. Rounded and lingering bittersweet tail. Well bodied. Drinking pleasure, indeed (Edinburgh 07.08.2013).

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from ?Jacks? Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames 16.07.13 consumed at home 18.07.13 On first glance there would be little to differentiate this and the Wild Beer Madness IPA (just consumed) colour wise this is also hazy orange with medium sized white head, the nose is more subtle here, clearly it is hoppy but if it is possible to detect sweetness on the nose then this has it, I think I know what I mean. This is soft in mouth, the hops are bitter and sweet, in fact when compared to the Wild beer this is much further down the sweetness spectrum. Curly fruity flavours in the mouth, it is juicy, with a streaky sweetness, there is plenty going on and it is great to compare this with yhe Wild beer this is is much more of a slow burner with a late finish, overall it just about draws level but you would never have imagined this early on. 4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle bought at the brewery. Hazy amber in colour, with a tight, off-white head. Massive hoppy, aroma of tangerines, gooseberries, white grapes and biscuity malts. Juicy, leafy mouth feel, with more citrus and tropical fruits, a hint of green herbs and gentle, almost creamy malts. Finish was dryish with a hint of pine. What a hop combination. A truly world class beer!
