Botte 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a hazy golden with a tiny white head. Fat, greasy and citrusy hops in the nose. Medium body, sweet tropical fruitiness with a phenollic touch. Ends dry and hoppy - not overly bitter though. 150311

330ml bottle drunk on 4 December 2010. No best before date. Golden amber colour. A bit cloudy. Orange zest character throughout. Not dissimilar to the Citra + in that there is a lot of tropical fruit character too, but I thought there was just a little less of everything. Still pretty good but didn’t have quite the presence of some of the other Kernel IPAs I’ve tried. I see that others are raving about it so I wonder if my bottle was just a little iffy, not in any major way but just enough to take the edge off it.

[330ml bottle, The Kernel Brewery] Pours hazy golden colour, decent head with no real rising carbonation. Fantastic hoppy aromas, slight pine and citrus fruit mix but the vinous Nelson Sauvin come through as well. Evin really crafts his beers to get that kind of blended aroma. On the taste, as you’d expect, juicy almost tropical fruit flavours with a long bitter aftertaste from the alcohol. Really moreish and so drinkable for its punchy abv. Outstanding [28112010]

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy amber, white head. Citrus (orange) and caramel on the nose. Orange marmelade / toast / caramel. Slightly cloying and less aftertaste than I was expecting.

A Mes rate. Bottle from the Kernel.
Slightly hazy deep amber gold with a very good bright white head and plenty of lace. Jesus, this one is a real masterpiece. All there is to love about hops and more. Fantastic grass and citric notes, equally magnificent aromatic herbal character and just a tinge of slightly sweet boozy brilliance. Plenty of alpha but never too much. Just the right tingle on the palate. A hint of something like toffee covered popcorn that really gives all the staggeringly good green stuff a perfect platorm to sing from. Considerable length means you can wait a little longer between sips but it seems to require a little more will power than I can muster right now. All in all, really really really good beer.

Bottle, bought from brewery on Saturday. Consumed at home. Wow. Where does one start? Stunning US hop present beat on the aroma. Really nice Simcoe and Apollo notes. The flavour is fulll of Citra and as Ian perfectly sums it up, it is elequant and cuts through just how like an authentic West Coat IPA should do. Not aggressive, just rushes at you with a calm and well measured pace. This sets your tongue off like a fire cracker. Really nice bold fruity hops, so easy to drink for the abv, some oranges and some mango and exotic stuff which takes me away from England and puts me on a Carribean Island for the duration of the brew. Stunning kick back of Citra and the fruits are long; lasting and so pleasant. If only all English IPAs were this well measured. This went so well with my roast pork.

Made a bit of a cock up pouring this as I was sat in the vestibule of a train on my way to Liverpool. Apparently trains are more popular now so they dont put on as many carriages and force customers to sit on the floor or stand for 2 hours. Did not help my mood either whilst rating this. Even before pouring the yeast in this was a hazy dark amber colour. Aroma has lemon and lime citrus hop aromas. The body is solid and only slightly sweet but the hop finish is sublime. The fruit of the citra balances the cat pee nelson. It really is beautiful on the finish. Sweet tasting hop. I bought this at Sourced in St Pancras and is one of the best £2.99 I have ever invested. Terrific flavour. Aroma too is just wonderful. Simply one of the best ipas Ive had. The juicy fruit my god the juicy fruit. Simcoe too comes through on both aroma and finish. Never are your senses allowed to stop loving this beer.

Bottle. Really liked this one! Both the aroma and the taste is dominated by sweet tropical fruits like lime, orange and pineapple. The taste ends kind of bitter with notes of grapefruit and somewhat sweeter burned caramel.
