Bottle: Cloudy, deep golden, small creamy off-white head, tart citrussy and sweaty hoppy nose, some sweet malt underneath; moderate to solid bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied and quite soft; tart a n d sweet finish. O.K., not too demanding....

UPDATED: AUG 12, 2012 Bottle from Jacks, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon drank in a field at Cropredy Festival Saturday 11th August 2012 Pours hazy. cloudy amber with white head, plenty of yeasty particulates in suspension. Good thrusty hoppiness. Like this, however it is so bright I can barely see the screen to rate. A7 A3 T8 P3 Ov15 3.6

A - Dark Orange with a thin head that did not last very long but left sweet sticky lacing and kept a thin film for its entirety. S - Subdued but sweet floral hops, biscuity malt and orange / citrus zest. Very nicely balanced aroma. T - Hops, citrus, pine needles, not as sweet and flowery as the smell would have indicated but rather a nice crisp sharp set of flavors and a nutty pine aftertaste that was very dry adn refreshing. M&D - Silky smooth and near perfect carboation in my opinion. I thought that this was a very drinkable beer as well.

0.33 L bottle (7% abv) from the brewery. Near-clear deep yellow gold. Thin blond lace on top. Inviting aroma from the Simco hops; Orange-candy and grapefruit maybe, flowers, mild hop oils, and faint evergreen. Well-bodied with a nice sparkling carbonation. Citrussy hop flavor reminicent of bitter marmelade. Soft malty backbone. Bold bitterness, yet easy on the palate. Medium body strenght. Jammy fruity-bitter aftertaste. Good, indeed.

33cl bottle at the brewery. Pours a clear golden/orange color with a huge white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity, with mango and lemon zest. Taste is again very hoppy with average bitterness for an IPA. Nice grassy citrusy notes. Medium body and lively carbonation. Overall, very nice and balanced IPA, yet with of fruity flavors. Outstanding.

Bottle bought at Sourced Market, St Pancras, London. A hazy golden coloured pour with a healthy white head on top. Hoppy, citrus, pine aroma. Tastes hoppy, some grapefruit, slightly bitter, malty. Just had this after the Motueka which I definitely preferred but this is still very decent as are all the Kernel beers.

Bottle at the new brewery. Amber orange, maybe a touch of brown, beige head. Aroma is citrus hops, orange, bit of twig. Taste similar. Nice though. Bitter finish. Crap rating as I had drunk quite a few by this stage and didn’t really make proper notes.

Bottle from the Kernel. Pours a curious but attractive red golden colour. Unsurprisingly hoppy, this beer has a good underlying sweetness, perhaps peach, a firm background and a long bitter hop finish. Not overly aggressive, unlike some other hoppy IPAs.

Shared bottle courtesy of gunnar. Pours hazy golden with a white creamy head a finger thick. Fruity aroma, spruce, apricots, nectar and light wooden notes. Bitter and light salty with plenty of hoppy notes. Medium to full body. Light doughy texture. Smooth to drink and ending with a dry tongue.

Shared bottle at local tasting. ABV is 7.5%. Deep golden colour, large white head. Lovely aroma of Simcoe hops, notes of citrus fruit, pine and resin, and not more catpiss than you need to say purrrr. Distinctly hoppy flavour, notes of grapefruit and pine needles. A very fine single hop IPA.
