Bottle; bought from brewery. Ok Iím going to make a couple of last ratings and this is one of them. As a tribute to Nathan leaving the country I canít think of anything more appropriate as a final rate than this beer. On appearance you get a hazy unfined deep orange and murky appearance. The head diminishes leaving a nice thin layer. The aromas are strong; potent and powerful. An abundance of mango; lemon, lyches and peaches. Orange-peel and fresh pine. Taste is lemon sorbet; orange-peel, mango, peaches, a big tropical fruit burst. This is an extremely fine drinking pale ale, the abv is really well hidden. I love the malt blend. Itís not heavy to drink and very light and fruity on the palate which is what you require for an easy-drinking beer. The smack of the lips give in to an outstanding refreshing tropical fruit drink and something which I can consume regularly. I feel the bitterness roll off my tongue and the hop-bite is second to none. I love a big and powerful beer but this is superbly balanced. For drinkability this is off the scale. Iíve stopped rating pretty much and this is one of my last beers to rate for the site. Iíd like to raise a glass for Nate2g. Cheers!

Bottle at the brewery. Pours cloudy gold with a fine, frothy white head. Plenty of juicy citrus in the nose, some tropical fruits, a bit of pine. Medium sweet flavor with lightly drying fruits, mango, tangering. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Faintly resinous to finish with nice balance, mellow pine, more tangerine, mild grapefruit, light mineral dryness, papaya. Lovely IPA.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of anders37. Pours a cloudy opaque golden with an off-white head. Greasy, citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, quite some fruit and dusty hops, not of the most crispy kind. Solid bitter finish. 030312

Hazy amber beer. Smooth palate, semi dry with fine carbonation. Slightly sweetish hop, trace of earthyness as well. Floralness with a whisper of tropical fruits. Quite a difficult hop to pin down but it has itís own identity and feel. Sublte peach - pear hint. Finishes minerally and semi dry with mild bitter linger.

Bottle at Craft. Orange amber, usual Kernel colour. Big white head. Aroma is fruit and funk. Tangerine, bit of pine hops, some citrus. Taste is equally fruity, grapefruit, slightly creamy, lots of sour citrus, lemon and orange. Lovely!

Bottle at the Brewery Sat 25th February 2012 at Nates leaving do Hazy, glowing gold/orange. Full on buzzy bitterness, but from the off this was a safer and altogether more accessible beer than the Chinook IPA that I consumed alongside. Sweet clementines and mandarins abound and the bitterness is pleasant, the bite is not quite hard as the chinook and at times this came be a little muddled but I like this, and for a hop that I have little knowledge of itís made a good first impression. Keg at The Old Fountain, Old Street, London. Murky gold with no head. Thick on the palate, a bit like a suspended medicine. Caramel toffee with an earthy, fungal note, heavy alcohol and pithy peach, I know you donít get pith with peach but I know what I mean. I wasnít over keen which is a shame for my first Kernel beer. Ah well.

Bottle at the Kernel Brewery. It pours cloudy light orange, with a foamy white head. The nose is herbal, sweaty sock, pepper and orange fruit. The taste is orange, tangerine, mango, pine, earth, salt and herbal, with a bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and great balance. A very interesting hop. Delicious.

33cl bottle bought at the brewery and drunk at home. Hazy cloudy orangey brown colour with thick lasting cream head. Herby leafy hoppy aroma. Lovely soft carbonation on this one. Fruit has some lime and some sweet unripened mango. Some lemon. I quite like the mix of fruit from this hop. Enough bitterness on the finish as well. Curiously likeable because itís an unusual hop to use by itself but one I clearly quite like. I like the softness and interestingness-ness of this beer. Good.
