_angst_ (1743) - Göteborg, - JAN 27, 2013
330 ml bottle bought @ beermerchants.com. Pours hazy anger with a small frothy amberish white head that is rather slow to dissipates while leaving some trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, malty, fruity and slightly perfume-like with bread, grapefruit juice, pineapple, mango, caramel, papaya, star fruit, pine, grass, lingonberries, lemon zest and orange zest. Taste is tiny sweet and bitter with bread, caramel, lingonberries, pine, orange zest, lemon zest, cereal, pine, mango, pineapple, raspberry hard candy and grapefruit juice. Mouthfeel is round, slitly oily bitter and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet, bitter and fruity with bread, caramel, pineapple, mango, pine and raspberry hard candy.

330ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Clearish brown color. Medium size brown head. Pine, hops, sweetish, lemon gelatine covered cheesecake in aroma. Dry bitter, slightly sour and sweet, malty flavor. Mellow mouthfeel. Quite drinkable I must say.

330ml bottle (Bacchanalia, Cambridge)
Lovely sweet spicy aroma, quite cakey. Lovely rich red, mine was hazy, but the others poured completely clear. Sticky spongy beige head. Sweet spicy malts, juicy, almost syrupy. Fairly watery palate in some ways, it’s sweet, but it’s not heavy or sticky. Pleasant carbonation. Massively drinkable, no sign of 7.3%. Lovely fruity hop finish, very juicy. Didn’t want this to end.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear amber with a small off-white head. Greasy hops up front atop quite some caramel. Rich body, loads of caramel and toffee - the rye really adds some thickness. Some late lightly citrusy hops. 150413

AleTsar (1327) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - FEB 7, 2013
Bottle from Nina’s Edinburgh [270113]
Reddish caramel, very hazy, frothy off white head that dissipates
Aroma of fruity caramel malts, dab of soft orange, touch of citrus hop, mellow . Taste of fruity caramel, mellow citrus zest, touch of grassy hop, some orange. Palate has a medium carb and body, fairly dense bit soapy mouthfeel, which was ok for me and some smoothness. Finish as main flavour - soft bitter hop finish with fruity caramel, lingering soft bitter linger, hint of alcohol.
Overall - Going by Kernel’s usual standards it seemed unremarkable but was decent enough. It wasn’t that fresh though which has probably affected the rating
