I had the beer at the Kaapse Brouwers 2nd anniversary festival. The look of the beer are beautiful. The color is a lovely deep purple/red. It has the color of plums. The beer is cloudy. On top a minimal layer of fast collapsing foam is formed. These are about the only nice things I can say. The taste and the smell are awful (in my opinion). Its extremely sour. I taste and smell wild yeast, which I strongly dislike. The smell is slightly better than the taste. In the smell som cherry and plum aromas can be distinguished. There is even a little sweetness in the smell. The taste only contains those disgusting sour tones. It almost makes me puke. However, my mother absolutely loved this beer. So I guess, this beer is very nice for the right audience. If you’re into Kriek, Lambic or Faro this might just be your cup of tea. It most certainly isn’t mine.

(Thx!) Sampled draft @ Tilquin English Beer Festival 2016. Massive pink red, very dark & very dark pink head. Nose is massively milky sour, fruit is crazy, red grapes, berries, juicy, cherry, plum. Taste is basic yoghurt sour, common to the other UK sours tried at the festival, on top you get this massive fruit, sour jam, massive plum, cranberry, red grape,… thick yoghurt body. Crazily big fruit profile is the game here, lovely, great drink.

Thanks to Frank for sharing!! Pours a brilliant rubine color with a little pink head. The smell is light sweet fruit, hibiscus, cherry. The taste is cranberry, sour and fast ending a bit dry. Light body with crisp carbonation.

Pours a murky purple-red color, with a fizzy head to it, vanishing almost instantly. The whole room is enriched by a vinegar funkiness after opening the bottle. Its sourness is profound and unique at the same time, revealing moldy earth, cucumber, horse raddish and glue. Has a medium carbonation, creating an effervescent mouthfeel, due to a well nuanced aqueous quality. Tastes of minerals, vinegar, cucumber and old leather, while creating a refreshing tartness. Its sour profile is in need of getting used to, as the beer doesn’t feature any interplay with a sweet flavor, or a soothing barrel characteristic establishing a convincing complexity, as well as a well desired balance. Finishes with even more pickled cucumber, a watery quality and a faint fermented grape appearance, while the beer, once established on the palate, doesn’t evolve too much. This features an utmost strange, herbal and moldy, sourness, while missing required balance, to make the beer interesting on the palate.
