Bottle from the brewery drunk at home. 5.6% version. Hazy amber lasting white head. It has a subtle grapefruit flavour. Some bitterness on the finish with a lasting yellow grapefruit flavour that is really quite biting on the finish. As I’ve said before, the pale ales are consistently better since they moved breweries. Love the finish on this.

Bottle, 5.6% abv. Pours hazy yellow with a medium white head. Aroma is fruity with red fruits, mango, grapefruit and some malts. Taste is sweet with some red fruits, biscuit, mango and a medium bitterness. Medium body and soft carbo. Nice, but I’ve had better tasting pale ales from the Kernel.

Garrold (1338) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - OCT 11, 2013
Bottle from the brewery. Hazy, green tinged, yellow. Thin, white head. Aroma is pine resin, some grassiness, sawdust maybe? Tastes toffee sweet, initially, followed by a biscuit dry finish.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2013 On keg in Stormbird. Pale yellow amber, white head. Nose is lemon citrous, urine, flinty mineral . Taste is lemon citrous, loads of flinty mineral, lots of bitter green leaf hop, not necessarily pine, but resiny.

Bottle @ Borefts. Aroma is sweaty piney hops. Flavour is again that sweaty hop note dominating, not the regular grapefruity amarillo notes. This just might be the first kernel beer I don’t like. Hmmm...

Taste is moderate bitter, lots of fruity citrus, grapefruits and tangerines, floral notes as well, soft carbonated, suits this one.Lingering light sweet, mostly fresh bitter finish, excellent.

Another cracker from Kernel. A lovely biscuity colour with a hint of murk. Not too bitter, quite sweet and syrupy actually. Well balanced, medium body and carbonation, some mango, papaya and lemon ring in aroma, and some light dryness and marmite ish savouriness. Good.
