5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Havenít the foggiest if this is actually the beer I tasted, as The Kernelís beer list is so extensive ... and unfortunately a bit confusing because thereís not much discerning here on RateBeer with regards to how The Kernelís beers are named. Perhaps it was more than the beer. It was a great Beer Day, and the overall experience was perfect as well. One long, lazy beer and out, with a good friend for conversation. At a beer bar Iíd never been to before in a city Iíd visited already numerous times. Sampled on draft at Moeder Lambic in Brussels proper following Night Of The Great Thirst 2014 west of the city. This was, for me, a perfect beer experience. I thought this beer was in fact a Blond, so surprised to see it listed here as a Pale Ale. In fact, as I read the descriptions, it seems this was not my beer, as it was a brillant lemon-yellow color. Regardless, the presentation was outstanding: creamy white foam that lasted and laced, brilliant bright lemon color with just the right amount of (for me) unfiltered haze. Fresh keg pour. Nose strongly of tropical fruit and CITRA. One of the best presentations of Citra Iíve experienced. Mouthfeel was full and perfect. The slight bit of Centennial really added the slightest bitter twinge to the Citra presentation, and made an otherwise sweet beer into a most perfect experience. If Iíve located the wrong beer, someone please let me know ... because I want to be able to find this again. If this was, in fact, a Pale Ale then I will for once forgive the style designation in the name of something that, for me, could take . One of my favorites ever.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
30th September 2012, Bottle at home on a nice sunday evening, as a warm up to a Kernel Double Black. This pours clean and clear, the aroma is typically kernel, some fruit and citrus, the taste is like a weaker version of the Kernel IPA Citra, good stuff, but lacks the body I am used to from the stronger Kernel IPAs

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of anders37. Comes as: "Citra Centennial" at 5.4%. Pours a cloudy opaque golden with a white head. Very fresh citrusy hop aroma. Medium body, a very dry fruitiness combined with the usual Kernel trademark: a tropical fruit melange from the hop bill. Dry and bitter finish - bordering astringent. 030312

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours - and I never thought Iíd say THIS - an almost CLEAR gold with a medium, frothy white head. Ripe citrus aroma, some cat pee and toasty straw. Light to medium sweet, biscuity flavor with a sharp bitterness of hay, fine grass and lemon rind. Also some definite tangerine notes. Light to medium bodied with fine, tingly carbonation. Crisp, ultra clean finish with lasting grass, light white sugar, toasted hay, and citrus rind. A highly refreshing APA.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
7th January 2012
Very hazy amber - orange beer. Big cream coloured head. Palate is dry with mild fine carbonation. Subtle minty chalkiness in this one! Fresh orange but quite mild and with even subtler grapefruit. Bready malt. Minerals. Finishes dry. By most standards a hoppy beer but by Kernel standards the hops are slightly muted. Nontheless this is well joined up and drinkable beer!

Bottle at the Kernel Brewery. It pours cloudy orange-amber, with a decent white head. The nose is urine, sweaty sock and juicy orange citrus (particularly peach). The taste is resin, orange squash, tangerine, kumquat, pine, earth and brown bread, with a dry-citric finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Easy drinking and tasty.
