Draught at the brewpub. Clear pale golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Fruity aroma, grapes, peach, citrus orange peels, floral, biscuits, some lemongrass, slightly spicy, hay, some caramel. Hoppy floral flavor, a bit sharp bitterness, grapefruit, perfume, grapes, apples. Bitter finish with perfume, grass, perfume, hay. Good but not perfect.

Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Pours light hazed golden with a big creamy white head. Aroma of minty fresh hops, some grapefruit as well, malty body underneath. Smooth mouthfeel, crisp and fresh fruity hops, pine, herbal and minty. Not disappointed by this one from Kernel, tasty and moreish.

Bottle at the Brewdog Bar, Camden. Poured a cloudy medium yellow with a thin broken head. The aroma is floral and hoppy leading to a similar flavour with a big bitter hoppy aftertaste. A very refreshing summer beer and well worth the high rating.

Bottle shared from Brewdog Camden. Pours hazy golden orange with a white head. Aroma of tropical fruit, grapefruit, peach and pineapple. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter. Medium bodied with soft to moderate carbonation.

Tap at the brewery. Light amber colour, small white bubbly head. Aroma is fruity, tropical, peach, pineapple, bit of twigginess too. Some tartness. Taste is nice. Lots of bitterness at the end, grapefruit, more fruit, twigs. Nice, but prefer the aroma to the taste.

500ml bottle from Hippo Beers. Hazy golden amber brown colour, not much head. Resin hop aroma. Fruity tar hop flavour. Sharp on palate with resin hop aftertaste. Another good Kernel Pale Ale.

Aroma: Yeast, pine and tangerine.

Appearance: Murky amber body with a thick white head that slowly fades. Good lacing.

Taste: The flavours are quite muted. Tangy grapefruit and apricot. Dry finish.

Palate: Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.

Overall: Not the most complex or flavoursome Kernel beer I’ve tried, but it’s still pretty tasty.

Tap at Craft, Clerkenwell - 10/12/12. Hazed mid golden with a decent white head that retains well. Nose is bitter orange, hops, light pine, touch smoke, apricots, light mango notes. Tastes of pine, hops, bitter notes, grapefruit, mineral tones. Medium bodied, soft fine carbonation, bitter finish. Excellent pale ale!

Lightly hazy gold beer, little white head. Smooth palate with modest fine carbonation, semi dry. Fresh malt base, touch of cream. Nice hops - mildly tangy mango and lime with a little pine and a spot of grapefruit pith. Finishes smooth and dry with a little grass and light floral flavours. Another belter of a PA from the mighty Kernel.

Bottle at home in London. Pours hazy gold with a strong, frothy white head. Typically inviting Kernel aroma: semi-dry orange, lightly toasted pale malts, mild dry pine, some dirt. Light to medium sweet flavor, good toasted malts, earthy pine bitterness, some orange, grapefruit. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Lightly drying to finish with mild resins, pine, dirt, orange, citrus rind, toasty bread, hints of tangerine. Solid APA.
