Bottled, 500ml from S.H Jones, Banbury. Cloudy orange with white head, despite a very careful pour. A combination of New Zealand hops, presumably the orange sweet marmalade notes coming from the Pacifica, and maybe the malt. Hints of bittering from the Waimea, not too pronounced. A slightly disappointing offering from Kernel given others I have tried recently.

Bottle from SH Jones, Banbury, Thursday 9th January 2014 consumed Friday 10th January around Lynn & Barrys Egg yolk colour with white head. Hoppy but also sweet, curly with a little tropical fruitiness. Nice but perhaps would have preferred a little less sweetness and a bit more bitterness and hoppy complexity. A7 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottle from the brewery. Cloudy amber, medium white bubbly head. Nose is nice soft citrous fruit, mango, earthiness, damp cellar, pine and quite a lot of yeastiness, almost a slight saison yeastiness. Taste is soft citrous and tropical fruit, earthiness, yeasty, slight Brett crispness. Soft on the palate.

500ml bottle from Valhalla’s Goat. Yellow amber, not much head. Tropical fruit & hop aroma. Biscuit lychee hop flavour. Grapefruit aftertaste. Good standard Kernel Pale Ale.

50cl bottle thanks to Scopey. Color is clear golden. Head is thin/medium and white. Body is soft. Taste is medium bitter and balanced. Aroma is light hop and pineapple. This is quite drinkable!

500ml bottle. Clear-to-milky opaque yellow with a slim white collar. Aroma of pollen, pine, tangerine and anise. Soft perfumed front toughening into pine, pepper and slightly booze-laden pineapple. Soapy bitter finish. Pretty dull by Kernel’s standards.

(Bottle): Pours a murky orange-gold with a white head. Aroma of grapefruit, mango, melon, passion fruit, slight pale malt. Flavour of grapefruit, lemon, orange pith, tropical fruit juice, grassy hop, slight biscuit and malt base. Nice easy going bitterness on the finish, super drinkable.
