330ml bottle. Pours slightly hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma is woody and herbal. Flavours of citrus and tropical fruit. A slight foisty earthiness, too, which throws it off balance a little. Still very enjoyable but probably not one of The Kernel’s best.

Bottled, 500ml from S.H Jones, Banbury. Hazy gold orange with white head. There was some nice conditioning to this on the pour. The flavour is of tropical fruits, pineapple, mango and honeydew melon, bittersweet and very pleasant. Lasting and fresh finish. Enjoyable.

Bottle from SH Jones, Banbury, Thursday 9th January 2014 consumed the same day Hazy orange in colour with white head. The nose is hoppy but a bit more muffly. Tastewise I find that initially I get pineapple, it’s a bit sweetshop pineapple and there is a sweetness but its good. Like this. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

330ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Bottled 15.10.13 - Pours clear golden orange with a bubbly white head. Aroma of floral hops, exotic fruits, grass and crisp caramely malts. Taste is smooth, floral and fruity with crisp caramely maltiness and biscuity notes. Finish is hoppy, floral and fruity with notes of citrus, caramel and malts. Quite refreshing and tasty pale ale.

500mL thanks to GT2 via Leighton! Aroma is apple juice, orange blossom, floral, honey, sugar, laundered cotton/fresh clothes. Taste is mildly bitter, mild sweetness on the front of the palate. Grapefruit rind, orange juice. Palate is a bit too bitter for me. Simple, not mind blowing.

500mL thanks to Leighton! Clear, deep near tea orange (not as pretty as other Kernel APAs). Medium, white foam with good retention and lacing. Nose is vanilla, salted caramel, white chocolate covered pretzel. Taste is white chocolate covered pretzel, caramel popcorn (no diacetyl though), but a bit apple with some toothpaste harshness. Fairly dense, almost dessert like thick body. Not bright or refreshing. Don’t get any Simcoe or Amarillo aromatics. Still, pretty good overall and very drinkable. Not soapy, papery, or flabby.
