Bottle from brewery. Colour is orange/rusty amber, cloudy, big bubbly white head. nose is citrous fruit acidic, pine, orange marmalade, citrous rind. Taste is a big hit of citrous peel zest, which softens into a rich orange marmalade. As it lingers on the tongue the hop bitterness builds and it’s quite hop astringent, piney, resiny and prickly.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy medium amber with a broken white head. The aroma is grassy hop leading to a medium bitter, grassy, nettle flavour with some serious spicy pepper bitterness in the finish. Fantastic when cooled on a hot day. It’s a rather typical beer from The Kernel, but its a style that I happen to like.

Bottle from Coppers, Newcastle. This is a cloudy orange-amber coloured beer with zesty orange marmalade and tropical fruity flavours, a creamy mouthfeel and a spicy citrus fruity finish. Bottle Conditioned.

500ml bottle. Orange golden colour, foamy white head and aroma of mango, passionfruit and citrus hop. Taste is caramel malt with tropical fruits and grapefruit, pine resin, tangy hop bitterness. Slightly oily mouth feel, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, dry lingering bitter finish. Quite drinkable APA.

Bottle at home 11th May 2013. Pours clear and light in colour, nice fruity hop aroma, taste us smooth, the Centinial comes through well. Great APA, loving these from Kernel lately

500 ml bottle 5.4% abv, pours golden brown, almost clear, not as hazy as some Kernels and a tad darker. Aroma of fruit salad chews with added orange, and a dry earthy bitter finish. Really good.

Flaska. Buteljerad: 18/3-13. A: Tropiska frukter, kåda, granskott, blommor. S: Tropiska frukter, framför allt grape, apelsin, lime. Dessutom kåda och röda bär. Beskan har aningar av det vita i grapeskalet, vilket hindrar ett ännu högre betyg. Men det är mest en randanmärkning. En mycket bra öl. P: Oljig.

33cl bottle from Kernel Brewery. Well my bottle says Centennial Simcoe but the ABV is the same so I’m not going to argue. Careful with the pouring so it comes out clearish orange gold typical of this style of beer from Kernel. Thin white head. Beautiful aroma. Not surprised I like it, it has 2 of my all time fav hops. Simcoe especially. Grapefruit, peach, apricot and satsuma. Great aroma. The flavour is sublime. One of the best pale ales from Kernel in many moons. Full. Some PAs don’t have that fullness of flavour or intensity. This one does in bundles. OMG. It’s great. Subtle bitterness on end. It’s so jammy in the fruit. Like grapefruit and satsuma marmalade. That is remarkable. Give it a touch more bitterness and I’d be giving this a 4.8. As it is, it’s just adorable. Once again Kernel makes my life a happier place to be.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli - picked up at the brewery. Pours clear, bright gold with a fine, creamy head. Lovely, light dry orange in the nose, hints of pine needles and grass. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly sticky, piney bitterness, lots of tangerine and orange, strong piney and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly resinous to finish, some faintly toasted pale malts, lightly tangy tangerine, orange rind, a bit of grapefruit. Great APA. Lots of depth but still super quaffable.

Another wonderful PA from The Kernel. 500 ml @5.4%. Hazy darkish amber and small head. Fresh and light hop and yellow fruit nose and wow big grapefruit hit on the taste buds. Mellow carbonation and long lingering fruit then hop finish. Glorious.
