Hazy gold - amber beer, good off white head. Smooth semi dry with mild fine carbonation. Mild starfruit, mild grapefruit and mellow tangerine - orange with a trace of lemon. A little creamy malt underneath. Semi dry finish. Well joined up, comparatively, for Kernel, mellow pale ale.

33cl bottle from Kernel Brewery. Well my bottle says Centennial Simcoe but the ABV is the same so Iím not going to argue. Careful with the pouring so it comes out clearish orange gold typical of this style of beer from Kernel. Thin white head. Beautiful aroma. Not surprised I like it, it has 2 of my all time fav hops. Simcoe especially. Grapefruit, peach, apricot and satsuma. Great aroma. The flavour is sublime. One of the best pale ales from Kernel in many moons. Full. Some PAs donít have that fullness of flavour or intensity. This one does in bundles. OMG. Itís great. Subtle bitterness on end. Itís so jammy in the fruit. Like grapefruit and satsuma marmalade. That is remarkable. Give it a touch more bitterness and Iíd be giving this a 4.8. As it is, itís just adorable. Once again Kernel makes my life a happier place to be.

Bottle at home in London with Lyoli - picked up at the brewery. Pours clear, bright gold with a fine, creamy head. Lovely, light dry orange in the nose, hints of pine needles and grass. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly sticky, piney bitterness, lots of tangerine and orange, strong piney and grassy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly resinous to finish, some faintly toasted pale malts, lightly tangy tangerine, orange rind, a bit of grapefruit. Great APA. Lots of depth but still super quaffable.

Bottle. Hazy orange with an off-white head. Aromas are apricot and pineapple with lemon. Orange rind with creamy oak. Gentle spices with herbal pine. Flavours are mellow oranges with sharp, sweet lemon and low bitter grapefruit. Spritzy, yeasty palate. Great.

Tap at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, 10/04/13 @ 5.4% badged as Centennial Simcoe. Lightly hazed golden amber with a thin off white head that clears to a film. Nose is orange pith, hops, pine, light grapefruit, citrus notes. Taste comprises sweet mango, bitter grapefruit, orange, hops, pine, sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light bitterness in the the finish. Decent but not my favourite Kernel APA.

Bottle at The Kernel. The pourís a hazy, deep orange color. Dark in appearance compared to most Kernel efforts. The nose is full of herbal hoppiness. Plenty of jasmine, pine cone. Sea breeze. Unwashed herbs. The taste is woody hoppy bitterness. More pine cone, resin. Light citrus. Lemon lime soda. Hints of sweet orange. Medium body. Active carbonation. Overall, a really nice beer. Great aroma.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy medium amber with a broken white head. The aroma is grassy hop leading to a medium bitter, grassy, nettle flavour with some serious spicy pepper bitterness in the finish. Fantastic when cooled on a hot day. Itís a rather typical beer from The Kernel, but its a style that I happen to like.

500ml bottle as Pale Ale Centennial Simcoe from Hippo Beers. Hazy amber brown colour, not much head. Big woody hop aroma. Flowery resinous pine hop flavour. Citrus fruit & tarry aftertaste. Another great Kernel Pale Ale.

500ml bottle. Pours a very hazy orange with a large, rocky head. Aroma is mango, passion fruit and melon. Taste has melon and bread to start. Bitter piney hop finish.

From bottle, loads of yeast as per usual. Pours cloudy golden/orange with short lasting head. Fruity hop aroma, slight pissyness. Taste is pleasant at first, fruity hops, pine, then an earthy note followed by a strong yeast presence. Refreshing with a clean finish. Not bad, some very nice things going on, just needs pollishing.
