Bottle, Beermoth, Manchester. Hazy golden yellow pour with a small white head. Grassy hop, wet hay, tropical fruit in the beak. Dry bitter flavour with some citrus notes. Its ok, but not their finest hour.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is grassy, creamy toffee malt and citrus fruit. The flavour is medium bitter. Medium bodied with a creamy frothy texture. Lots of spice and pepper on the palate with a spicy long bitter finish.

Bottle at some awesome Argentinian restaurant. Damn solid stuff. Raw orange peel and light zest. Very juicy. Some pungent mandarin. Good dose of bitterness. Love it like I love all Kernel

A solid, rather lovely kernel, full of peach fuzz and a lasting bitter finish. Standard fare - in a good way.

Bottle. Hazy gold as usual. Aromas are woody and herbal with low floral pine and pineapple. Spicy with oranges and a surprising amount of biscuit and Weetabix malt. Flavours are juicy tropical fruit with grapefruit and plenty of peppery pine and yeast. Herbal with a pithy finish. As good as usual.

500ml bottle from Beermerchants.com. Golden amber, reasonable head. Sour grassy grain aroma. Dry grapefruit citrus hop aroma. Bitter grapefruit aftertaste. Decent pale but there are better from The Kernel.

50cl bottle from beermerchants. Grapefruit and gooseberry aroma, some yeastiness on the tongue, good bitter orange bite and finish. A bit of lemon and biscuit in there too. Poured a nice burnished copper colour, sediment retained pretty well intact. Another good one from the kernel.

Keg at The Kernel, served on a stack of blues and entitled ’Ella’. Mid-clouded orange lacing ornately. Grapefruit and perfumed flowers on nose. Base husk, almost smoke, stewed black tea, grapefruit, pine and resin. Big smack of finishing bitterness. My first Kernel ever not from the bottle, and I miss that soupy fullness of condition if I’m honest...
