Scopey (12709) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 6, 2011
Bottle at the Kernel Brewery. It pours golden yellow-orange with a thin white head. The nose is refreshers, cheesy hop, orange, sweet tangerine and pine. The taste is pine, resin, grapefruit, orange, tangy marmalade, leather and light smoke, with a long, bitter finish. Light to medium body and average carbonation. It’s flavoursome, refreshing and the balance is spot on. This may even be my favourite Kernel pale ale to date!

pivnizub (10182) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - NOV 1, 2011
Bottle: Pale golden with an orangey sheen, very stable white head with a little lace, very solid peachy and piney hoppy nose, yeast and pale malt underneath; very slim, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; lingering piney-fruity bitter-sweet finish, some salt (!) detectable. A bit thin, but nevertheless a great brew…

MoritzF (9448) - Ottobrunn, GERMANY - OCT 31, 2011
(bottle) Cloudy, pale golden colour with a blond and dense short foamy head. Massive hop aroma containing citric, piney and zesty notes, accompanied by a herbal and yeasty touch. Moderately bitter flavour, light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly yeasty pale malt-character with fruity and piney hops; quite dry and mildly bitter finish with present yeasty notes, that tame the aroma hops a bit at the very end. Nevertheless an aromatic hop bomb. 31.X.11

UPDATED: MAY 5, 2012 Bottle FROM Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Smells great - a leafy orange fruit hop. That is the taste also. Mouthfeel IS good, though depth is not massive, but THEN again, this is APA, not IPA. Delicious - love the Centennial. I’m sure I also love Super Alpha, but don’t recognise IT yet. In summary, yes. (Orig rating 7th Oct ’11, re-rate 5/5/12. Even more delicious than previously thought. Needs a higher mark. Originally 3.9, now 4.2)
