Scopey (6140) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 13, 2014
Bottle at home. It pours near black with minimal tan head. The nose rich, roasty, dark chocolate, salted caramel, light medicinal notes, wood, mild acidity and coffee grounds. The taste is smooth, roasty, coffee, earth, toasty, cocoa, whisky, medicinal action, warming alcohol and charred wood with a smooth, roasty finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Whisky is well integrated, without being too dominant a factor. Smooth and quaffable. Nice work.

EdKing (1788) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 10, 2014
Bottle from the brewery. Opaque very very dark brown, off white head. Nose is a bit worrying at first. Slight touch of sour, lactic acid, roasted malt, dark chocolate, barrel aged wood, whiskey. Pleased to say there’s no sour in the taste. Nice and smooth, dark chocolate, lots of roasted male, dry black coffee, spicy wood barrel, some tingly wood barrel and whisky notes on the finish.

jredmond (5200) - Manhattan, New York, USA - APR 2, 2014
Bottle shared at Franks (via trade with Theydon_Bois - thanks Colin). Pours a blackish brown body with thin tan lacing. Aroma is rich espresso, oak, and smoky peat character. Mouthfeel is medium to smooth with notes of espresso, deep roast, light bitterness, oak, maybe some bourbon and bitter dark chocolate.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2014 Deep brown block body, thin khaki head, light lacing. Light roasted, peatey whiskey, light smoke and caramel. Medium to full bodied, gentle carbonation, fairly dry and clean in the finish.

2013-01-31. Very dark brown body with a tiny brown head that fades. 3+ Aroma is surprisingly mild, malt, mild scotch and peaty smoke. Flavour has a dark malty core, moderate scotch character throughout, a caramel toffee whiskey whisper. Surprisingly bitter overall, just enough whisky notes to put me off since I don’t care for it unfortunately. Smooth average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. A nice beer that is unfortunately not for me. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

[Bottle (330ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jercraigs & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry] Pours black with a spare bubbly beige head. Aroma of lots of coffee, some chocolate, wood and light peat. Flavour of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, vanilla and leafy hops. Medium bodied. Quite good indeed.

January 31, 2014 - with blankboy, gregclow, jercraigs & mabel. My 330ml bottle. Deep brown-red, smallish frothy tan head. Amazing aroma - deep roast, chocolate and coffee, some light peat - holy crap! Taste has more bitterness, definitely more Islay character - really more a fantastic black IPA - I love how this barrel treatment is so subtle. Slick, light carbonation, emerging roasty/Islay peatiness. Loved it!

Bottle from madmitch76. Pours black with a good sized creamy tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and wood. Smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonated. Taste is light roasted dark malts, touch of coffee and chocolate, dark red fruits, lingering with some weak whisky, nice one.
