Cunningham (2972) - Halden, NORWAY - APR 15, 2013

Appearance: Hazy golden color with a white layer that leaves some lacing.
Aroma: Slightly sweet, rich hoppy and fruity.
Palate: Medium (to light) body. Slightly sweet and a rich bitterness. Average carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Rich grape hoppy and balanced tropical fruity.
Overall impression: Unbelivable nice and tasty beer at ABV: 3.2%. If I should rate after style and ABV, this beer would get at straight 5! No problems with drinking a lot of this. Perfect session beer.
Personal stats: Bottle at BrewDog in Birmingham, England.

500ml bottle. Hops: citra & mosaic. 3.3% abv. Pours very cloudy straw colour with a small white head that dissipates but leaves a good lacing. Really fantastic aroma of tropical fruits, citrus, herbs and ozone. Huge citrus flavours, particularly grapefruit, with some peach. Some grass, herbal notes and heavy floral hops follow. A good, robust bitter finish. Medium bodied with low to moderate carbonation. I can barely believe this is 3.3%. Really fantastic.

33cl Bottle bought at Utobeer, thanks Manon! ABV 3.2%, Citra/Amarillo/Columbus hops. Hazy golden yellow colour, white head. Aroma of a glorious hop-fest, lots of citrus, tropical fruits, light pine notes, resin, grapefruit. Flavour is light sweet, crisp malts, dry, citrus and tropical fruits, mango, pine, just a hint of grain, light floral malts, great citrus hoppy bitter finish. Great mouthfeel for a 3.2% beer. Light-bodied. Could drink this all day. Excellent summer beer as well.

330ml bottle [3.2% abv]. Filmy golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Hoppy aroma has notes of pine, grapefruit, citrus. Taste is bitter hoppy, pine, citrus; slightly watery in the end, short stop finish.

2.8% abv, 33 cl bottle @ The Rake (received less than 2 weeks ago and kept in a fridge) Pours a hazy golden apricot with little, white head that leaves lace. Retention is there but the head fades quickly. Aroma is fresh, sprucy hops with hints of grapefruit. Oily texture, medium to light body, soft carbonation and a short, bitter finish. Flavour generally follows the nose but has less fruity notes. Body is quite impressive for the ABV.

Murky amber colour, with small head which disappated quite quickly. Lovely citrussy-hoppy aroma. Nice bitter finish. Very drinkable.

Citra and Tomahawk; tawny, murky, large rapidly diminishing white head; lovely fresh peachy aroma; plenty of hops give a peachy taste too, alongside some bitter grapefruit; bitter, slightly salty finish; good low strength Monday night beer; the rating of 3.5 doesn’t really do justice to the quality of the beer for its strength.

Bottled 12.12.12. Really interesting hop profile Apollo, Summit, Topaz, Columbus and Pacific Jade results in a subtle pine / lime profile - nice nose of the same. Another well made beer from The Kernel.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. 3.5% Hops: Simcoe, Citra, Nelson Savin, Apollo. Pours a clear yellow with a lacing white head. Fresh citrusy hop aroma - subtle though. Light body, dry and a little dusty with the usual Kernel tropical melange. Not overly bitter. Extremely sessionable. 220313

Dec 2012 - nothing wrong with this at all. A nice light session beer, 3%. Citrus - orange and grapefruit and a little floral bitterness in the aftertaste. Enjoyable. I like the subtlety. Feb 2013 – new batch, smaller bottle, 3.2% this time. Starts with a bit of rounded bitterness and ends with the same. Again, it’s slightly floral and slightly grapefruity. Nice in its own right, not as good as the original though, so unfortunately the overall rating moves below 4.
