3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DanielBrown (3167) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - FEB 9, 2013
Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Not sure if it’s fair, but I’m slightly disappointed here. It smells great and it tastes full of hops... but equally the base weakness of the beer is unavoidable, obvious and upfront throughout the drinking experience. As a low alcohol beer it’s excellent, but as a standard APA or Golden, it tastes weak.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 spacecube (345) - Leeds, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - FEB 9, 2013
500ml bottle 3.3 % bottled on 12.12.12. Pours cloudy golden brown, a small head which leaves a nice lacing. The aroma is very hoppy, very nice, plenty of citrus, orange, grapefruit, fruit salad chews, not much malt flavour in the backbone, as a result it has quite a bitter aftertaste. Average carbonation. An excellent brew for any time of day.

Bottle at home from ales by mail
Pale amber with strong pithy orange and passion fruit on the nose. Pretty bitter at first, which combined with the light body makes it a hard starter. Persevering allows the beer to open up into a sessionable tropical fruit bowl with in yer face bitterness and just enough malt sweetness to balance. I still prefer hophead.

Not much to say here that hasn’t been said before. Possibly the ultimate lunchtime beer. Mellow and light but full of flavour. Seems you can rely on The Kernel to deliver every time.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ACD (337) - Dublin, IRELAND - FEB 2, 2013
50cl bottle: 3.3% (Apollo, Summit, Topaz, Columbus, Pacific Jade). Pours hazy orange with thin bubbly white collar; not much lacing. Lovely fruity aroma: plenty of tangerine, mango, and citrus fruit as well as touches of pine. Taste follows suit with juicy tropical notes, light pine, and some dirtier earthy hops. Light malt sweetness. Fairly thin mouthfeel. Light residual pine bitterness. A wonderful beer, especially considering the low ABV - the ultimate lunchtime drink.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 allmyvinyl (75) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 24, 2013
Mixed rating due to a great bottle, but an iffy experience on draft. Bottle had all you could want from a beer this strength and more - wipes the floor with anything bigger breweries are shipping out at 2.8% (for economic rather than taste reasons) - full on hop assault on the nose and the palate, smooth drinking and lovely bitter finish. Had it on draft a couple of times now, first time was the same as the first bottle, second time had a dry mustiness to the aroma, like opening a new packet of vac-packed hops, which made me think it had been rushed out of the brewery, perhaps to keep up with demand? Will try again though.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Hazy orange-yellow coloured with tropical fruit and citrus flavours and smooth light bodied orange marmalade on the finish. Excellent considering the low ABV.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Decaf (21) - - JAN 17, 2013
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, white head. Floral, citrus aroma. Very light body, nice hop flavor of fruit and citrus, but not overwhelming. Another winner from the Kernel.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 SaintMatty (3615) - Uppsala, SWEDEN - JAN 14, 2013
330ml Bottle (3.2% version) - Hazy amber with a small head. Mango, passion fruit, grapefruit and lemon in the aroma. Hoppy, tangy and slightly grainy taste with pineapple, lemon, grapefruit and toffee detected.
