A lovely peach, rye, malt aroma. Cool, refreshing and crisp, with some mild biscuit and tangy hop notes. A lovely light, slightly chalky mouth-feel. Pretty decent.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
My Bottom Line:
This citrusy and resinous low gravity Pale Ale is chock full of hops which are pushed forward by frothy bubbles and relative dryness. A beautiful example of what could be a trend of the future (or so I hope).
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy blond, lacing nicely.
-Carbonation could be softer, if anything. I know this is not trying to emulate a cask mouthfeel, but this is still a tad too forced for my tastes.
-This is as intense and agreeable as many 5-6% APAs. Why drink a 5% version if you can have the same aroma, flavour and texture in a 2.8% version?
-The hop profile is beautifully complex.
-I could see lots of American breweries doing this.
-This rating is for the version hopped with Cascade and Stella.
On tap at the brewery tasting room.

16/VI/13 - 33cl bottle @ home - bottled: 22/IV/13, BB: 22/VIII/13 (2013-562) Thanks to Nicki and Mike for transporting the bottle!
Clear pale orange beer, creamy off-white head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very fruity, lots of citrus, piny, resinous, exotic fruits, lots of passion fruit, slightly chemcial. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of citrus, lovely bitter hops, pretty pungent, little fruity, resinous. Aftertaste: more of the same deliciousness. Man, what a great beer!

On tap at Euston Tap
I picked this from the tempting list of beers available at the Euston Tap. Kernel has made a name for itself and I wanted to find out what all the fuss is about. After this pour I think I know. If they can do a low gravity pale ale well I look forward to trying their bigger IPAs and stouts.
Aroma / Appearance - The cloudy golden base shimmers with a murky mysterious texture. Lemon crisp, grapefruit, and spruce needles remind me of a fresh Christmas tree cut in the woods and dragged home the same night.
Flavor / Palate - The bright hops are tart without destroying the senses. Citrus aspects include lemons, grapefruit, and mango. The balanced mouthfeel makes it easy to drink this in just a few minutes. I look forward to trying a few more Kernel taps before heading home.
