COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Keg & Bottle.
Inspired by an ancient Mayan recipe, Ilkley Brewery has created an extraordinary Stout. It is velvety smooth, bittersweet, and has a subtle smoky fire in its belly. The Mayan is a Chipotle Chocolate Stout, dare you take it on?

This pitch black brew with a small tan head has a complex and interesting aroma. You can smell the chocolate and chipotle. The flavor is powerful and refreshing but this is not a style of beer that I am an aficionado of. If chocolate flavored beer is a must then this is a must. if you are feeling adventurous I would try it also. It isn’t bad, in fact I enjoyed the more I drank of it (go figure)

Bottle at home. Creamy milk choc vanilla aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. Milk choc, light chill heat, liquorice, treacle, dark toffee, vanilla... Lovely balance. Most tasty.

Keg. Dark brown close to black with a medium sized tan head with good retention and lace. Rich on chocolate at first, but the chili soon takes over and builds up quite some heat. Medium/full body, soft and light fat texture. All in all it is a gimmicky beer that is only fun for so long, but tasty and well made.

The aroma sure is something. It’s bombed with vanilla and chocolate aroma to the brim. Actually it smells more of vanilla than chocolate. The taste is at first a little thin, but when the chili kicks in, it makes up for it. Roasted malts, chocolate powder and a lingering chili sensation that grows on you slowly before it takes over completely. It has more sting than you might think.

Deep brown color, beige head. Chocolate nose, brownie cake, vanilla, brown sugar, cloves. Sweet taste, vanilla sugar, chocolate, chili, roasted malt, dry finish with hot chili notes. Medium body, soft carbonation, prickling mouthfeel, oily texture, warming chili.

Bottle from systembolaget. Pours Black with a medium beige head. Smell is deep with choclate and vanilla. Taste is complex and sweet, with some spice. Palate is relatively thin but a bit creamy. Overall a decent stout though there definitely are better ones.

Pours a very dark brown with a hint of red and a brown head. Aroma of milky chocolate and a taste of chocolate and chilli.

Trevlig.

Bottle 33 cl. Black with a nice foamy lightbrown head. Lots of dark chocolate, malt and coffee sence. Medium bitter with a nice chocolate and some smoke sence at the end.

Aroma: surprised to see to much sweetness, vanilla sugars with sweet chocolate feel behind.
Look: poured as dark brown with off white into beige beaded crown. Decent lace. 4-
Taste/Body/Palate: heavy set stout. Hefty creamy texture with lesser carbonation. Heavy walls. Bold chipotle feel on chocolate creamy base. This feel rather authentic. If you are chocolate lover you will know what I am talking about. Solid, interesting interpretation.
