3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Small, just off-white head over very well-carbonated amber beer with a mossy sheen. Sourish-herbal nose, some lightly coloured malts, rainwater, wet dog, buttermilk. Sesame oil/seeds, wet dog, other grains, bread flavours. Rather watery MF, light body. Acidity enhanced by the CO². Far from bad, nothing ’searched’. But allow me to remark that the ’traditional’ way would not need the addition of lactic acid. It would be there spontaneously...

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu, 20150706) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had tartness, malts and grass. Palate was medium bodied and dryish with medium carbonation. Flavours were sourness, malts, tartness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, tart and bitter. A rather weird brew but still nice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle bbDez2015, US import via Braukunst Live. Aquateous, "sessionable" Münsterländer alt landing midway between diluted Uerige, Helles-style Pinkus and entry level Gose: the subcurrent tartness retains a mild woody, "branchy" character, never becoming too apparent. Underneath are some thin dry caramels, red berries, juniper. Weak presence overall - stylewise a tentative (and for what it is: rather pricy) hybrid between Alt and Sour Ale. For a more convincing modern interpretation of this style bypassing the lactic acid I recommend Münster’s own Gruthaus Überwasser-Alt.

500 ml bottle BB july 2014, shared by Werckmeister, thanks!
Deep amber, clear body, with a medium, creamy, lacing, off-white head.
Aroma of overripe fruits, orange, some dried fruits, leather, some barnyard.
Taste lemongrass, zesty hops, leather, overripe fruits, barnyard, some dried fruits.
Light, slick mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes smooth, medium sour, quite dry hoppy, a bit leathery.
Quite interesting. Overall nothing special, but still good after one year past the BB date. Nice mix of sour and fruity notes.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
500 ml bottle. At the Kultainen Apina, Hervanta, Finland.
Murky brown colour with a tiny off-white head.
Mild sourness, mild sweetness and mild malt in the aroma.
The flavour is sweet mushy malt and mild sourish notes. The label is the best to offer in this one. I'm not impressed.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
sample at mondial de la bière 2015, mtl. unclear/hazy medium dark golden orange with a small off-white cap, some retention and lacing. tart-ish lager toasted and fruity maltiness, wheaty berries, their leaves, raspberry fruits, astringent tea; woodsy, grassy and spicy nobleness; light carbonation, light body; gently tart and astringent woodsy-grassy finish. like a sour-ish very fruity lager. unique. i seem to be the only one digging this here. this is pretty cool stuff!

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Straight forward bread and watered honey. A bit acidity in the aroma too with noted of cooked apple. The flavor is narrow but not bad. Sourness is very delicate and I’m not sure why it is categorized as a Sour Ale. Easy to drink and more of a thirst quencher then a complex brew. Why not. But also why yes. I could just skip it and never regretted it.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Served alongside Methusalem. A sour alt bier. I’m intrigued.
Copper / orange body with a thin beige ringlet. Aromas of fruity, sweet breads, pastries, sugar. Sourness, while absent in the aroma, emerges in the flavor. Apple sweetness with a lactic, tart finish. Yeast and bread notes throughout. Low carbonation and a fairly light body. Interesting.
