3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 malrubius (1404) - Valley Stream, New York, USA - MAY 8, 2013
Bottle from Decicco Ardsley. Dark brown with nice lasting tan head and lace. Aroma of smoke, wood, ash coffee, chocolate milk with slight alcohol. Roasty earthy dark chocolate and coffee with medium fruity sweetness. Roasty clean mildly bitter slightly smoky boozy finish. Body is surprisingly light. Bready. I would say a Belgian Imperial Stout. A better smoke beer than imperial stout. Nevertheless very good.

Pours dark brown with a small off white head. The smell is caramel malts and weak smoke. Some chocolate and some alcohol. The taste is a little watery despite the 10% abv. Slightly cheap malt and really not much smoke. Decent but harmless.

0.33l bottle @ Gaasa. This is a deep dark brown - almost black one with a small light lacing brown top. It has a really nice amazing with tons and tons of chocolate! Some traces of smoke, dark malts and vanilla - but the chocolate dominates everything. Lovely aroma. Right below average on the carbonation and a slick mouthfeel. Great flavors also. Licorice, chocolate, vanilla extract and grass. Yes! This is a really tasty one! 01.03.2013

Appearance: Dark brown-black with substantial light brown head.
Aroma: Surprisingly little aroma. Some dark malt and alcohol.
Flavor: Same as aroma. Hard to imagine a beer so dark and alcoholic having so little to offer in either aroma or flavor.
Palate: medium to full bodied with moderate carbonation.
Overall: disappointing but drinkable.
