COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed like a west coast style IPA with a heinous amount of Columbus, Amarillo and Chinook. A heavy-handed focus on bitterness is what this one is all about. We named this brew in honor of our boundless disdain for a particular hockey club in Montreal. Hops and hockey are both better when they’re bitter. It’s science.

Bomber from Julio’s. Pours out a very murky light golden amber color. Frothy off-white head. Super cloudy with lots and lots of crap floating around (deduct for appearance). Bright, hoppy aromas. Flavor is slightly malty and super bitter as advertised. Some pine, some grapefruit, some spice notes, but mostly resinous and bitter.

Draft at the source. Hazy straw color, thin head. Aroma is mild pine, light citrus, mellow pale grain. The flavor is balanced with plenty of pine bitterness. Med body.

Pine is the main character with light citrus, very classic flagship brewpub IPA.

Strong hop scents with a bit of malt. Ok color, kind of a pale brown. Very strong and nice hop flavor up front, fades to some malt but then a bit too much bitterness for my taste. But that's the name...

Growler during RBWG. Pours a cloudy orange with large off white head that lasts. The aroma is pine and citrus. Medium mouth with similar flavor to nose with nice resin finish, very good.

Pours slightly hazed deep gold into a Sam glass. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet earthy caramel, bread and resin aromas. Medium bodied and sweet with toffee and caramel upfront turning to bitter resin in the lasting finish.

Draught@Lord Hobo. Clear deep amber color, decent off-white head. Hoppy fruity, piney aroma. Medium-bodied. Ctirus-resiny hoppy flavor. Very clean malt profile. Tasty, but perhaps a bit uninspiring. Ok. After 3 samples: Haverhill seems to be very solid brewery!

22oz bottle. Large beige head atop amber body flecked with yeasties. Aroma is moderately sweet, pine/grapfruit. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, some pine, light bread. Soft medium body, some resin. Not well balanced, as the description suggests.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy dark amber body with a nice tight bubbled creamy off-white head that slowly faded. The nose is showing very minimal hops, there’s more caramel and toasted malt in here than hops by far. The flavor indeed pretty bitter though. Not the brightest in the hops department, the hops are just very bitter and rather brash. Fairly heavy and slightly sweet malt backbone. Finishes with a lingering almost quinine like bitterness. Medium bodied, fairly heavy and clingy for my tastes in the style. This was just a showcase for brash bitterness, not the most easy drinking of IPAs.

Growler during RBWG 2013. Golden pour with a small off-white head and plenty of lacing. Nice pine, citrus, grapefruit in the aroma and flavor. Not bad!
