I like ginger. I like wheat beer. Iím not an enormous fan of honey though, however the proverbial two out of three isnít bad. It is a gorgeous orange amber colour but served underneath a temperature that could truly do the aroma justice. That said, it has at first instance proven to be an interesting quencher. The aroma (once left to warm gently) is gingery with an undertone of orange and guava. Some savoury banana comes through with a bit of breadiness and a little comb honey. I say a little comb honey and Iím delighted that it hasnít overpowered the other aromas. Quite prickly carbonation in the mouth and more plentiful banana alongside the constant gingeriness. It is gingery like crystallised ginger or grated ginger root rather than being powdery. This is gratifying and lingers as the dominant flavour on the palate. Those tropical notes shine through like warm rays of son (for Godís sake, what have I become?). This will appeal to adherents of the old Twisted Hop Honeydew but also those who like a quenching pint on a summery day. As an aside, the alcohol content may also loosen a few inhibitions as well.
