3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great little concoction, from the hand pump, with the right aroma of fruits and chocolate liquours, cherry and plums, I suppose. The beer is a lovely ruby black, with not much of a respectable head, but it goes down beautifully, with dark chocolates, a touch of coffee, that oakish bourbon and the roasty flavour. Quite thick, it may not be as resinous as often expected from a RIS, but the high alcohol is quite well hidden. Beatiful choice for a strong beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I could swear the initial sweetness at the front had hints of fresh green apples and maybe dried apricots, but this faded as it warmed in the glass, giving way to choc and coffee, and oily roasted flavours.More warming brought out plums, raisins and tartness. Smooth, warm alcohol in the finish. Easy drinking.

i was really surprised about this beer. It looked and smelt great. I was not as viscous as I would have liked though. Big hop and roast presence, limited lingering sweetness. A really good beer. I think this would be fantastic after some barrel time.

Bottle from Jimthechap - cheer’ bro! Shared with Theis and the doctor. Pours an opaque black with a tanned head. Sweet and bitter with aromas of hard roasted malts, bourbon and dark chocolate. Also hints of prunes and cofee... and tiny hints of lakridskonfekt. Medium to full bodied. Medium to soft carbonation. Dry and sweet finish with more bourbon.

Bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with dense tan coloured head.. Looks very oily as it pours down the side of theglass. Great slightly creamy aromas of floral citrusy hops, roasted grain, milk coffee, light toffee and very sweet caramel. Really good. Flavours are initially very sweet before some roasted grain and hop bitterness comes through to balance things out, Resiny aftertaste with a hint of sourness. Fullish creamy mouthfeel. Yeah nice beer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pitch black pour with ample tan coloured head. Roasty, espresso aroma. Sweet flavour profile upfront which gives way to a bitter mid flavour and finally a mouth puckering astringency with warming alcohol on the finish. Complex, interesting but I’d prefer a Chimay Blue for sheer drinking pleasure.
