I am not a "low taste" pilsner fan. This beer has great taste and great balance. The Nelson Sauvin hops really "make" this beer. It reminded me a little of a CAP (classic American pilsner) - full of great flavors - though it is thinner than a CAP. It is super refreshing. Tasted at the T-Hop Brewery 11/2009

Pear and fruity aroma. Poured from tap. Smells like it would be a sour. Has the appearance of a glass of wine poured into a pint glass, hence the name.

Floral nose. Golden cloudy body and with reasonable lacing. Fruity taste with a long dry bitter aftertaste. Strongly carbonated/furry mouthfeel.

Not a style that I like for pilsner as this is quite dry which goes against the fresh vibrancy that I associate with this hop.

Sauvignon Blanc wine, pear, mineral water, floral esters, burnt pineapple. Soft body, moderately bitter but strongly hoppy. Savory soft mouthfeel, fine carbonation, off dry with moderately strong acidity. Pretty one dimensional but I guess itís supposed to be. So itís wine-like in the nose with little malt appeal but itís a better Nelson Sauvin presentation than most single hop pilsner tried in NZ. Good aromatic representation of the hop.

The head is robust, the body gold. It smells hoparomatic, flowery, aromatic. The taste is hoparomatic, flowery, a bit fruity, bit grape, natural, aromatic. 3.6

Nice poor refreshing taste, flavour is a subtle but distinct nelson sauvin. Nice enjoyable beer.†

Good looking pale lager, with a golden cloudiness and nice creamy white head. The aroma was not pleasant to my taste -> too spicy, more like a Koelsch. Flavours did not help either. I was expecting fruits, but got more of grass and a whole medina of spices. Very bitter, but not to my liking.

Draft in Woolston. Clear golden yellow color, white edge head. Aroma of damp earth and fruit. Taste is dank fruit and straw. Tasty. Good showcase for the hop.

Rated on a bottle that was past itís best by, but only by 3 weeks. A bit thin, lacking in any real punch and finishes a bit weak. However on a hot day in the summer this would be a cracker of a beer, sadly itís mid-winter and itís not.

500ml bottle well before best before date yet after reading others deScriptions, Iíd say mine has lost a bit of freshness. Delicate lemony citrus and slight pepper and typical pilsner yeast(?) float lightly on the thin watery light bread or crackery base. A real summer drink.
