COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong dark ale, malty and dangerously easy to drink - beware!

Hand pump @ Hashigo Zake. Dark Copper/Brown, looow carbonation and a whisp of off-white head. Surprisingly little aroma, some caramel and malty goodness. Wonderfully smooth and creamy texture. Roasted, brown sugar, toffee and fruit bread flavours. Round and full in the mouth but drinkable, oh so drinkable. Never guess it was 5.9%.

On beer engine at Hashigo zake Opens like a mouthful of caramel pop corn, loverly brown-reddish colour and clear, malty yeasty nose, not at all carbonated but good body and nice malty aftertaste. Nicely complex.

On handpull at the brewpub. A sessionable Old Ale - is there such a thing. Toasted malt and caramel flavours. Greta smooth palate.

Tap. Nice beer. Sweet aromas of cola, and caramel. Taste is sweet, with good length. Palate is velvety, with a medium body. Brown, with a head that doesn’t last.

Draft. A red-brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of butterscotch as well as lighter notes of alcohol and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, butterscotch, and alcohol.,

Extremely dark with slight brown-red tinge. Very slight fruity-chocolate aroma. Dark fruit flavour with a hint of bready and coffee malt on the tail end. Very smooth and surprisingly refreshing. Quite festive too.

plenty of character here. vanilla, chocolate fudge aroma, nutty, toasty and full bodied, with a long salty and grainy finish. good stuff, but not the equal of the emersons porter on cask.

Tap. A lasting small tan head over a clear black body. A sweet malt aroma and taste of wood, coffee and berries. Warming and full bodied.

Part of the tasting rack at the brewpub. On cask. Pours dark brown ruby with a tan head. Molasses, brown sugar, coffee, roast malt, and hops on the nose. The flavor is similar, with aniseed, dark fruits, a syrupy mouthfeel and dry, bitter finish. Good complexity and balance. Medium bodied and very smooth.

Handpulled at the brewpub. Pours deep ruby, tan bubbly head.
Aroma is complex, dark fruit, marmite, and a roasty malt.
The flavour is just as complex, fruity with a hint of plum and spice. Coffee roast malt. A full bitterness shows near the finish, which saves the beer from having a thin body.
Dry finish, nice, complex and very tasty.
