Slightly cardboardy flavour, but there is lots of toast and light molasses as well. Flavour is very malty, molasses, brown sugar, toasted nuts and a touch of chocolate near the finish.

Part of the tasting tray shared with my lovely wife at the brewpub in Christchurch, enjoyed with the charcouterie plate and cheese plate. Gorgeous deep mahogany red colour. Aroma is faintly smokey, with notes of molasses, chocolate, and fig jam. Silky palate with flavours of burnt malt, molasses, prunes, and a subtle spiciness in the finish. Nice bitterness that lingers long after the swallow. This reminded me of an old-school classic porter, and for that reason was my favourite of the lot.
