COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Previously a Summer seasonal

Lightfoot Bitter was created as a tribute to Lightfoot Brewery, Masham which we acquired in 1919. The label and pump depict the Lightfoot Brewery’s celebrated cricket team – and while this beer definitely won’t give you the runs, it will score highly on the tastebuds.
This is a very pale, straw coloured ale, that uses a special malt to produce a pronounced ‘peach-like’ element to the aroma and palate, which is complemented by a floral hop character.
Brewed using a blend of traditional Fuggle, Golding and Bramling Cross hops.

Only ratings of the cask version should be entered here. The bottled version has a separate entry.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Pale gold with white head. Good, biscuity, sharp malt body, dryish and just light enough carrying quite a peachy, fruity flavour, hoppy, again quite dry and refreshing. A pretty decent beer.

Cask. Straw yellow with a thick cloud-white head. Smells of peaches and sweet malt. Tastes of peaches and sweet malt, with a dash of pepper and lemon. Pleasant enough with a strong finish.

Poure light and golden with a thin white head. Minimal aroma, flavour of absolutely no note whatsoever. Somebody might have once waved a picture of a hop at the fermenter, but it obviously didn’t catch on.

Handpull, Great Western Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, Cumbria, 15/02/13. Lager gold without bubbles; fine shaving foam top. Pale, lemony, straw aroma. Soft and mineral-driven with cereal milk notes; a honey and hay stillness; hints of aniseed. Throwaway.

On cask at Duke Inn, Sutton Coldfield - light golden colour, white frothy head soon dissipated away to a coating. The aroma is floral, a bit of a feint malt in there, with the first taste soft and fruity - not sure which, but I’m torn between nectarine or mandarin. The body is slick, smooth, with a little bitter after kick. Not Theakston’s best, but it is good.

On cask at brewery visitor center. A sparkling clear yellow with a creamy white head. Aroma with a hint of honey. Hints of lemon and honey flavor with good level of hop bitterness.

Cask at the Adam. A pale bitter. I didn’t get so much of the fruitiness they talk of on the label, was more of a house Theakstons dry, slightly chalky, slightly sharp bitter. Ok, good for a session.

From an oak cask by handpump at Paisley Beer Festival (25 Apr 12) - clear pale golden ale, non-existent white head, floral hop aroma, peach light hop flavour, oily feel
