Specially brewed to celebrate the tradition of brewing in Masham. Theakston’s have been brewing their ales continuously in the Yorkshire Dales market town for over 185 years, using family recipes passed down from one generation to the next.
Including the finest British barley, raisins, classic English hops and hints of cinnamon to give an outstanding and uniquely characterful ale.

Dusty yellowish small to medium head over hazy amberish orange beer, some lace. Cinnamon wafting up upon pouring, liquorice - smelling like one of this modern day teafantasies. Bitterish and cinnamon again, undimensional, thankfull not so cartoonesque as the nose. Bit sweeter in the finish, but the finish is burning with the cinnamonbark. Light body. We knew about rootbeer. I suppose this is barkbeer.

I enjoy without waiting a surprise, but it surprised me !!! I confess that cinnamon is not attractive for me and it was a positive difference in this beer. Very elegant and tasty!

Pours a dark golden with a medium white head. Aroma is some hay with a touch of solventy phenolics. Flavor is somewhat fruity but with the same touch of wood/ phenol/ bananas as in the nose, I kinda of despise the house character here. Medium to light palate. Forgettable.

Bottle from Morrisons. Poured a bright copper/ orange colour, with visible force carbonation and a medium, off white head. Aroma of boiled sweets, synthetic fruit substitutes and grain. Some spice in the flavour, mixed with caramel and straw. Finish was bitter rind, toffee and mineral.

I’ve had a few of these now, orange amber colour with small foamy head which goes quick. I found the aroma interesting, caramel, mild cinamon, rasins, spice and slightly grassy. Taste is medium sweet but leads into a spicey dry finish.

Caramel amber, clear, large off white head
Aroma of light caramel, soft cinnamon
Taste of caramel malts, touch of toffee, slight soft fruits, hint of cinnamon, simple fare, found this rather dull.
Palate - Soft carb, medium light body, soft sweet. Finish as main flavour, soft sweet light cinnamon
Overall - Didn’t get much out of this. Just a simple light caramel supermarket beer with a dab of cinnamon. Absolutely average.

Copper colour with white head. Aromas of spices and fruits, especially damson plums. Taste is lightly malty but with quite strong cinnamon and raisin flavours. Also touches of lime and toffee, with some grassy hop notes. Finish is dominated by a sweet taste reminiscent of marzipan. In fact, the beer tastes a little like Stollen in a glass. A rather curious brew, it would work better if the flavours came together more. Not entirely convincing. Perhaps it would work better at a higher ABV (it tastes a little watery) and with more yeast and hop flavours to balance the sweetness.

Bottle from Tesco, Eastboure shared with McTapps. Wonderfull balanced one with slightly hops in the nose combined with some barley and raisins. Heavily drinkable, pleasing, calming.

Bottle from local Tesco in Eastbourne. Pours out in a hazy brown colour with low head and flat body. Aroma of cake, malt and whisky. Taste of cake, hops, straw, biscuits, caramel and light malt. Smooth to drink. Enjoyed it.

rather intensive malty and spicy aroma... the taste is very spicy with notes of citrus peel, cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice... light hopping... dry sweet aftertaste... nice ESB...
