phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA May 29, 2008 Pours a very dark brown colour. This beer carries a nice nutty roasted malts aroma with a creamy caramel texture throughout each taste. Rich and a little touch of wood. a little sweet and a nice soft hops finish. DarkBeer (47), Ohio, USA May 19, 2008 Updated: Jul 22, 2008Huge head fades fast. Very malty, but has some fruity notes. Nose is nice, but not real strong. Creamy mouthfeel, very nice. I like it cellar temperature. kidmartinek (972), austin, Texas, USA May 6, 2008 When you pour this beer, it is a half a glass of foam. It remains to be seen wheter that is a good thing or not. Dark brown opaque, large tan head that doesn;t last long enough. Good lacing. Alcoholic malt aroma. Bread, brown sugar, and hop flavor. Medium mouthfeel with slight bite. Good olde fashioned flavor and texture, taste, and appeal. thomat (666), Göteborg, Sweden May 6, 2008 Dark redish brown with a small, off-white head. Malty and fruity notes. malt, bitterness and slightly sour. Medium body with a sweet & sour finish.. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA May 6, 2008 Pours dark brown with a small head that dissipates really quickly. Not much aroma or flavor. If there’s something here it’s too subtle for me to find. tarc (47), New Jersey, USA May 4, 2008 Mild malt aroma, expected more. Color was a dark brown, slightly opaque with minimal head. Good flavor although I thought the yeast was just a bit stong and it didn’t finish as smooth as I’d like. Still a very good beer. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA May 3, 2008 Poured from 12oz bottle a darker brown with off-white small foam head that faded quickly. Light aromas of malt were all I could detect. Flavor pours in with heavy caramel and toffee notes, maybe a bit of bready malt with some soft roast and just a touch of soy or whorchestshire sauce. The palate was note very sweet nor was it dry and hardly a trace of anything bitter. It is an odd beer, one I would drink again but not seek out.
dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Pours a reddish brown with a small, quickly disappearing head. Aroma of toffee, banana and a touch of sweaty sock. Much lighter than expected. A bit thin, but creamy. Banana and that same off taste from the aroma, but a bit strong. This is indeed peculiar. Not a fan.
