Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

Characterful beer with peppery dry finish, fruity nose, quaffable palate with medium carbonation, subtle depth, smokiness, and nice deep brown hue.

black pour with a thin, frothy cream head. thick roasted malt smell and a malty, spicy flavor. not too shabby at all.

Expensive! Weaker flavor than I had expected. Pours a deep brown, with some translucency in the pour but none in the glass with a off white head. Aroma of malt and not much else.

355 ml, 07 vintage. Three-finger head settles into a nice-lasting spit atop the translucent chestnut brew. Faint molasses and dates in the aroma. Initial flavors are apples and bananas simmered with some cinnamon and cedar chips. Raisin, dark toasted bread, dry grass, and slight rum are my names for a few of the other flavors present in this multifaceted beer. Light medium body is surprisingly frothy, and mostly dry.

Dark brown with a loose beige head. Dark malt aroma of dark malt with hint of chocolate banana. Medium to full body with modest carbonation. Rich malt flavour balanced with hoppy bitterness. Initial refreshing taste gives way to rich, slightly sweet, malt flavour with a hint of chocolate and treacle. A beer well worth trying.

Clear reddish brown. Came highly recommended but was kind of bland to me. Good dark roast malt flavor, but with a hint of sour with a slightly metallic nose. Not bad, but kind of thin with flavors that don’t work together, at least for me.

Light brown with off-white head. Aroma is caramel & roasted malts. Thin mouth feel to go with caramel taste and a chalky finish. The alcohol is prevalent and it’s a shade on the bland side.

Bottle. Very dark red brown with a loose beige head. Aroma of dark malt, maybe some chocolate and fruit or esters (banana, apples, citrus?). Medium to full body with modest carbonation. Rich falvour mainly comprised of dark malt with balancing hoppy bitterness. The initial taste has a refreshing almost fruitiness to it which is displaced by the rish sweetness of the malt, with chocolate and treacle notes, which in turn gives way to a bitterness perhaps coming in part from the dark roast malt and part from the hops. A great beer.
