Dark red/black with a minor tan head. Hint of sweet red wine in the aroma, burned malts with a subtle sweet tinge in the taste.
Oh to be in Yorkshire where this is on tap. As it is, happy with a bottle in London! oldPeculiarHen (14), East Yorkshire Coast, England

When you hold up to the light, it appears ruby red mixed with dark undertones. Aroma is fruity and inviting. The initial taste is nothing amazing, however the aftertaste is the highlight of this beer and provides a pleasureable fruity taste that invites you back for another gulp! it truely lives up to its title. Perhaps one of the finest bottled ales I have tasted to date. boltonmark (9), Uppingham, England does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 17, 2007 Nice beer, lovely colour and smells great. Had this recently at the brewery, after and tour by Simon Theakston, while talking to the cooper that made the barrel that it was served out of......priceless.
