| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | May 5, 2006 Slight aroma of fruit and malt. Beautiful color (if you hold to a strong light). A plummy flavor (think Dr. Pepper a bit). The bitter is actually rather light. A thin, slightly sweet finish. Aftertaste is like a light version of La Binchoise Brune. This is really good stuff. Try Black Sheep’s Riggwelter for the younger generation’s version of this classic. kimcgolf (828), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 30, 2006 Strong malty aroma. Poured to a dark brown with trace of ruby, and a slight, tan head that diminished soon after. Taste was very strong malt and chocolate, and very fizzy. Left a dry, bitter (not good) finish. Unimpressed with this one. KSS (102), Plymouth, Minnesota, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2006 Bottle. Medium brown color with a medium sized head. Nothing out of the ordinary in taste or aroma. Not bad, but I was a little disappointed. I had higher expectations based on others ratings. Beerdedone (1873), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 15, 2006 Beer pours a clear, very dark red-brown color with an average-sized, light brown, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is malty with heavy notes of husky roasted grain, moderate notes of sweet cookie and caramel; hoppy with light notes of herbs, trace note of resin/pine; yeasty with a trace of cheese and a trace of damp basement. The flavor is moderately bittersweet, moderately acidic with a long, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. decaturstevo (1980), decatur, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 11, 2006 Aroma was the strongest thing going for this beer has a sweet malty aroma. It looks good. If falls off in the palate and flavor and carbonation. When cold it’s a little fizzy and has a dry flavor that is just a little weak. It finishes a little watery as well when it warms. If this had been a blind tasting I might have rated it even lower. It was a highly recommended beer that just didn’t live up to the billing for me. If I try it again and it is better I will re-rate it. willblake (2173), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Dark cola brown color with medium but fading beige head. Aroma is lightly oxodized, slightly diacetyl, with touches of leather, dark and fruity esters, cigar box. Flavor is carried weakly by a thin and uninspiring body, peculiar indeed. Soft, thin, mild, a bit grapey, and not too distinctive. The finish is only slightly bitter and rather papery sweet. Oh well.
