Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

One of the better beers we sampled at a beer tasting at The Fresh Market. IT went really well with the mushrooms wrapped in philo dough. It poured a dark rich brown and had a little sweetness with a nice dry finish. I will be trying this again soon.

Black, lets just a touch of light through. Creamy, dark brown head. Lasts a while. Plum, raisen, brown sugar aroma. Malty, full bodied. More plum, generally fruity flavor. Just a touch of spice and sweetness. Very nice. A slight lingering aftertase. Overall a very enjoyable English beer.

a nice old ale, one of the more drinkable ones that I have tasted. pours a dark brown hue with a small off-white lacing. malty aroma with a bit of smoke..good balance.

Poured a very deep blackish amber color, hardly any head and what was there dissapeared on me. Smells quite malty to me. The taste is overly sweet yet has a clean finish which is a plus in my book. Its ok, but I think it is rated quite high for what it is.

12 oz bottle, poured into shaker. (it’s all I have at this point). Very dark, small mocha colored head that goes away within a few minutes. Smells exactly as described: banana and an overall fruitiness. Somewhat active carbonation and good overall mouthfeel. The hardest part of this review is describing the taste. It’s somewhat dry, yet remarkably smooth with dark malty goodness. There’s still something else in there but I can’t identify it. Could be the ever so slight fruit undertones. Either way, a good "try at least one" beer.

Pours dark amber. Opens with a glimpse of sweetness that quickly transitions into a strong hop presence with fruit notes. Rather brief aftertaste did not reveal residual sweetness. The palate is indeed "peculier" -- the ingredients are all there but for my taste they just don’t work quite right.

"Poured a nice mahogany color with an average head which left okay lacing. Aroma had something in it that i wasn’t a fan of. Rich flavor, sweet, yet dry bitter finish. Nice beer, still not sure about that aroma, but if you don’t smell it good beer."

Bottle. Fairly treacly sweet with hints of the roasted malts and dusty hops in the finish. Didnt really get me going.
