Quiver (139), Augusta, Georgia, USA Sep 6, 2005 Dark brown pour with ruby highlights. Pleasant aroma and flavor of cane sugar, toffee and fruits.... some chocolatey roasted notes. IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Sep 4, 2005 Bottle pours a a deep mahogany with a dense creamy light tan head. Lacing that stays til the end of the glass. Very nice sweet aromsa of cherries, and other dark pitted fruits, brown sugar and vanilla. Forst off, the very thin feel is obvious, rich malty oak barels and some chocolatey roasted notes.
Slightly bitter trailer but within expectations. Rather "peculier" MI2CA (1260), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Aug 30, 2005 12oz - Aroma is sweet cherry, banana and malty plum. Pours a transparent brown with little head but great lacing. Flavor is also sweet carmel malt, cherry, and a touch of black licorice. Palate is crisp and clean, very smooth. A nice brew in the English tradition. M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Aug 27, 2005 A nice, dark beer with a fluffy beige head. Roasted coffee smell with a sweet-ish taste with a malty, bitter aftertaste. Drinks well, strength hardly noticeable. Still one of my favourites MrManning (1634), London, Ontario, Canada Aug 22, 2005 Shared at Chester’s in Hamilton, Ontario with Joey Capps and Jadoreblanche. Pours a dark brown body, with a very beige head Aromas are malty as anything, molasses, some figs, caramel. Taste is sweet, figs, caramel malts, some sweet fruit. FInish is lingering malt, smooth, medium bodied. A good old ale. Thanks a lot Joey Capps for sharing! joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Aug 19, 2005 Very dark brown w/ a garnet hue & a small light brown finger of foam. Rich malty, fruity, mildly roasty aroma of licorice, molasses, caramel, prunes , dates, & raisins. Chewy feel. Flavour is thick & sweet w/ a light vinous acidity. Finish is lightly bitter. nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 19, 2005 Very nice in almost every way. The Aroma has elements of Scotch and is sweet and somewhat vinous. It also has a metallic element to it as well which is the only thing I did not like about this beer. The appearance is dark brown and looks very similar to a porter. The flavor is wonderful. It tastes like a fine scotch with lots of roasted malt and some caramel as well. The bitterness is minimal but present in the aftertaste along with a chocolate taste. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Aug 19, 2005 Dark brown pour with ruby highlights. Pleasant aroma and flavor of cane sugar, toffee and fruits. Good stuff, cask-conditioned it must be heaven on earth.
