| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2008 Translucent clear brown color no real head to speak of and no visible carbonation. Nothing special to look at. A tasty molasses caramel and malt aroma. The smell indicates a too stickily experience. The taste is malty but not nearly as sweet as the aroma would indicate. A bit of hops mixed in does lead to a peculiar beer mostly because the smell betrays the sedated taste nuplastikk (1171), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 24, 2008 12oz bottle. Deep brown amber color, looks filtered and/or fined. Sweet dark fruit aroma. Dark malty taste, very smooth on the palate. Sandy hop balance to the rich chocolate malts. Never really realized that this was an Old Ale. To me the taste is of a true dark English Mild and a roasty Porter, mixing some of the best elements from both. Excellent session beer or sipper. Classic. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 14, 2008 Sweet and sticky malty beer. Tastes of caramel. Has a somewhat thin mouthfeel - may have been a little too cold when I sampled it down at the stuffed sandwich. No head at all to speak of. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA
