highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Apr 13, 2005 Classic English old ale - one of the benchmarks for the style. Poured an ebony colour, with a short-lived tan head that laced well. The aroma is sweet and dry, with molasses and juicy berries. Medium-bodied and smooth, like a porter. Dry, with a gentle btiter finish. Succulent berry flavours - cranberries, blackcurrants. A triumph. (Bottle) frylock (1001), Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 10, 2005 Dark muddy brown color with a thin off white head. Malty aroma with some toffee notes and light fruit. Light sweetness, some roasted flavors. Some cocoa notes and hints of fruit. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Apr 2, 2005 Dark almost black in color with a red glow. Tan head didn’t last long. Alcohol smell overwhelms the aroma but the taste is very nice smooth and rich palate. I liked this one alot. My sample was aged well as my sister tells me it had been in her refrigerator for almost a year. A nice reward for helping her with the move. I like this one and will buy more! swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA Mar 30, 2005 Yorkshire Ale in the galss is a very deep amber. It has a tan head the forms a nice lace. The aroma is very sweet from the malt almost like butterscotch. It smells as though it would be a heavy beer but surprisingly it is rather light with a very sweet malt flavor with some even lighter fruitiness. Bockyhorsey (2487), Mesa, Arizona, USA Mar 28, 2005 On the pour looked black in color, hold glass to the light and you get a ruby red color to the body. Had thin tan head that disipated. Good carbination. At first wiff thout it was wine. Alcohol was the flavor till half way though the glass it was of a fruit flavor. Good beer glad someone allready had it and gave this one to me. Dalle (1146), Skørping, Denmark Mar 26, 2005 Bottle. Dark red-brown with small head. Malt, raisin, cheese, earthy-bitter. eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Mar 21, 2005 Deeo reddish-black, moderate head with nice lace, aroma of dried fruit, medium-weight with sweet malty flavor. Drank one, poured the other one over a beef roast with some apple cider and garlic. Both hit the mark. Boystout (900), Chisinau, Moldova Mar 17, 2005 Clear ruby colour, medium-sized fluffy head. Nice fruity aroma, sweetish palate with hints of Cabernet and caramel. Fairly good but try cask version instead...
