Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

Brown colour, small creamy head. Aroma has toated malts, and some fruits. Flavour has sweet and bitter malts. Not very likable.

Dissapointed in this "average" beer. Looked great, though, brownish gold that caught the light well. Flat (it is British). Flavor light and no complexity. Paid too much for this bottle.

50 cL bottle. Pours deep hazzlenut brown with a minor orange glare and a small creamy light tan head. Fruity, malty and light metallic aroma. Smooth roasted malty and slight breadish flavoured. Light fruity note too. Medium sweet. Lingering caramel malt onto the back of the tongue leading into a smooth caramel and roasted malt finish with a subdued sweetness. Light roasted acidity into the far finish.

Brown chestnut pour with minimal head. On the maltier side, toasted maltes are paired interestingly with a drying hop quality. Actually quite intruiguing and produces a gingerish clovey spice character. solid

Little bit flat for my tastes, nutty, fruity malts, mild, liked it quite a bit.

Quite sweet; dominated by dark fruit, vanilla, honey, and caramel. Malt around every corner. Mahogany with 1/4 off-white head. Medium mouthfeel...good English brew.

Bottle from 2006.. Again, I’ll agree to the interesting color. I didn’t get near the head (retention) as in the picture (then again, it came from the bottle). Description says ’banana notes’, while there is a bit of subtly in the fruit, I wouldn’t describe it as banana. Could use a bit more body. malty/fruity. (Dried fruit aroma and flavor.) It has just a hint of roastiness in the finish.

It had an aroma of a musty, damp castle room. Nice flavours of rum, raisin and vanilla with a hint of smoke. The palate was vinous. The finish was of an oak-like, alcoholic malt. Not my kind of thing but nice none the less.
