Commercial Description:
Bottle; Pasteurised.
Its initial sweetness is, apparently, "of roasted and vinous notes with a subtle bitter aftertaste". Strong fruitiness, often with "banana notes" standing out, is derived from Old Peculier’s fermentation process.

Sept, 2002: A long standing favourite of mine. Chrissie and I noticed a distinct coffee flavour. Never fails to please. [3.2]
Aug, 2005. Filtered and carbonated bottle. Yes, it tastes very clean and plastic. There is a lacking of that earthy edge you get from living beers. But, having said all that, this is a very pleasant drinking experience. I have a fondness for this in the same way that I have a fondness for Camp coffee. It is pleasantly malty sweet. I do remember this as being something to treasure when it appeared on cask - but even the cask version seems to have gone downhill over the years. Or that may just be familiarity breeding contempt. Anyway - a nice beer to have in the house, but you wouldn’t get it out for the posh guests. [3.1]
Dec, 2006 Blind tasting with Riggwelter, Strong Suffolk and ESB. 1st place. Dark reddish brown colour. Gentle prickly carbonation. No foam. Aroma is of baby poo, vanilla, faint chocolate and strawberry jam. Soft, caramel, red fruits. A finishing tree bark bitterness. Interesting movement from initial soft flavour. Intriguing and interesting flavours. Inviting and changing. A pleasant, compelling and satisfying beer. [3.5]

flavour. Amber brown, with a nice head. A dark beer’s richer taste and sour kick, scotch, malty, and bitter. Thanks Radek for sharing and OKBeer for sending.

Pours large head, pale brown, cloudy ale. Clean hoppy aroma, pleasantly sweet. Medium bodied, malty, bready feel, some light bitter finish. Simplistic, but not bad at all.

Deep garnet color, small head, slightly malty aroma. Malty and subtle. Fruity, slightly nutty, some yeastiness. Mild and flavorful. Taste is very smooth. Mouthfeel is very smooth. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle. Nice ruby brown body and a moderate khaky head. Caramel, alcohol and "English Malt" character in the aroma. Flavour is malty with a lingering caramel tang in the finish. Light palate is not sufficient to support the full flavoured brew. Very nice beer. Thanks OKBeer.

Bottle. I enjoyed this one quite a bit early on in my beer ratings. Nice fruity esters banana, cherry, berries. Subtle bitterness with a light smoke and dryness about it.

This brew pours a medium head of small fine bubbles and semi-transparent brown body. It has a mild malt aroma and a smooth palate with a bit of a tingle to the mouthfeel. It has some nice flavors of roasted caramel, malt and spices.
